Dating clips in the timeline VSX9
When I hover over a clip in the library, it shows the date the clip was taken. I cannot see a way of getting this information after each clip has been dragged into the timeline, either by hovering or right clicking. Is there a way that VS can show this info for each clip ? I ask because I want to record, via titles, when each video or jpeg clip was taken.

Hi Kenneth
Sorry I do not think you can do that in VS.
I can see your problem of identifying the clip in the library, especially when you have a lot to choose from, but create to a new library page, drag the clip to the library, you can view the details, make your title, then delete the clip from the library, ready for the next clip.
But yes maybe the program is lacking info about our clips, right click Info should be available.
Also a right click for Locate on Computer would also show the details of the file.

If the clips are DV.avi captured via firewire into Videostudio you can turn on "Display DV timecode in preview window" in preferences but that unfortunately only works with dv-avi clips and does not stay on the video when rendering out but it would allow you easily see it in order to type a title from it.
alternatively most camcorders have an option to add the date and time to the video while filming and usually just wants selecting in the options menu -downside of that is that the date then becomes an integral part of the video for ever and ever and needs to be masked out if you want to use the video without it

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. It has only taken me 12 years to ask but I thought it was worth doing so.Is this too trivial a matter to add to the next version wish list ?

Re: Dating clips in the timeline VSX9
Not long ago I've been asked about it.
While it can't be made in VS with a click, it can be done in windows .
Simply by adding the date to the file name with this great free utility.

**I'm using it for ages for all sort of things.
