My secondary hard drive crashed on me where I had PSP X9 installed. Primary drive is SSD for Windows OS only pretty much.
I tried to reinstall, but as it was already "installed", the Corel installer went into Uninstall mode instead. This failed because the drive is not valid (it's gone). I used Windows Add/Remove program to get rid of X9 and registry cleaner.
Now when I try to reinstall X9, it is still stuck in Uninstall mode. It just fails and says no modifications made.
The question then is: What is the installer looking for exactly that makes it think that X9 still exists? It is not a registry entry. It's not on the nonexistent drive obviously. It has to be looking at some remnant files from the previous installer and won't progress forward.
I'd appreciate any advice.

Re: Hard Drive crashed. Cannot reinstall X9
I know it is after the event and not much good to you now, but hard drives do fails and at he most inconvenient times. I have had this happen a couple of times and had to reinstall all my programs , taking about 30+ hours to do so. Told myself never again.
I now use a disc cloning program HDClone and I have my system drive with all the programs on it (1 Tb) and have cloned it to two other similar drives, I clone them at about 1 month intervals (takes about 5 hours while I sleep)
Now if a failure occurs that cannot be easily repaired I can just remove that drive and put the back up drive in (10 minutes) and have all my programs installed minus 1 months worth of saved documents. Sometimes it is also possible to read parts of the bad drive and recover some of those documents even if the operating system part is stuffed. I also use portable external drives to back up some documents on a weekly basis so if I am lucky am only 1 week down.
This is also going to prove useful if I get hist with one of those ransomware attacks. So backup and backup often.
Now with your problem, are you trying to reinstall on that crashed drive? or on a new drive. By splitting up the installation (starting on your system drive and then directing the rest of the install to your other drive it may be looking for something to verify the installation which is on the crashed drive and not on the new drive). Have you tried a third party uninstaller and or the Corel uninstaller tool.?

Use the clean tool pinned to the top of the forum.
Re: Hard Drive crashed. Cannot reinstall X9
Thanks. I did see that link right after I posted. I will give it a shot. Yes, I got rid of the dead hard drive and am reinstalling it on another secondary drive that I already had in place.
