I would like to share the Library and the Subfolders within it (the Media Libary where all the bins of clips/sounds/etc are kept), but even though I relocated the Library to a central location, two installations of VSx10 cannot seem to 'share' the clip metadata (the 'pointers' to the clips)...
I have a dual-boot configuration, with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on this PC.
I would like to set up VSx10 in Win8.1 to use, let's say, "D:\library" as the Library and Folders (sources/Links) location.
I would also like to set up VSx10 in Win10 to use the same "D:\library" location for the Library/Folders/etc
such that when I boot into either system, all of the Links are there, to the same files, in both.
Currently, I cannot seem to accomplish this.
Despite setting up a shared folder location and ensuring that all permissions are allowed, each installation only sees 'what was linked to' in their own Library (and are not seeing a 'shared library' between the both of them).
Is this not possible with VSx10? If not, that is fine, I am merely inquiring...
Share the Library and Subfolders between two installations ?

Re: Share the Library and Subfolders between two installatio
may not be possible -- Videostudio relies on much more than just the file name in order to link - for many years before version 7 every time daylight saving time was invoked or removed in your particular country Videostudio unlinked every single file on your system - even though absolutely nothing had changed on your computer except the time - many people used to disable daylight saving just to avoid all the problems
we finally convince Ulead to change that but from the odd messages I get at times - eg " the unlinked video must be longer/shorter than ##.## seconds" i think the tracking system still looks for more than just filename and date
an external drive *MAY* work providing you allocate the drive the same and permanent drive letter in each partitiion

Thank you for your information! This may explain why it is not working, although it is unfortunate... Perhaps there is something in the security of the program itself that prevents it, too. Hmph. An interesting limitation.BrianCee wrote:may not be possible -- Videostudio relies on much more than just the file name in order to link - for many years before version 7 every time daylight saving time was invoked or removed in your particular country Videostudio unlinked every single file on your system - even though absolutely nothing had changed on your computer except the time - many people used to disable daylight saving just to avoid all the problems

I have to stop for now, but I might try look at this again sometime. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge about it.
