Transparent background with a chromakey MP4
I have a stock animation clip that uses a chromakey. I've inserted the MP4 as my overlay video and applied the chromakey. I'm confused how I can publish the file to a new MP4 file with a transparent background. Thoughts? Help? I am a newbie to this software. I'm using X9.

Re: Transparent background with a chromakey MP4
for my benefit at least you will have to explain a bit more detail
if you have a stock animation mp4 chromakey video that says to me that you have a video with something animated on a plain coloured background
you put what you want as a background in the top track and put the mp4 in the overlay track and apply chromakey - this effectively makes the background transparent so that you can see the video in the top track through it
why do you now want a new video with a transparent background - which is something you cannot do in Videostudio any rate
if you now wish to create a video of the combination you now go to "Share" and 'create a video file' but not with any transparency - if you want to use the stock mp4 any where else you will have to do it with chromakey
although as I said I have missed the point as to why you want a transparent video

Re: Transparent background with a chromakey MP4
If I may pop in on this...
Brian:
If I may try to answer your query, there are a couple of reasons that come to mind as to why someone would want 'video with transparent areas' - such as how some recording software allows the use of PNG and transparent video clips as Overlays - for use as Logos, animations, etc. It can also be used in Streaming, where the PNG/animation/logo/etc is placed as an overlay on the video source that someone is Streaming, so that the PNG/animation/logo/etc appears 'on top' of everything else - much like in an video editing program, only used 'live' as opposed to linearly, in editing.
Czard:
Mr.Cee is correct, VS does not seem to allow the output of a video with transparency. A 'video that has transparent areas' is one that has an "Alpha Channel" (just like images/graphics) and VS appears to only output RGB colourspace (whereas a program that can output a video with transparent areas would have the format "RGBA" as an output choice (with an Alpha Channel) - and it would be found under the AVI ("Uncompressed") section). Perhaps we can put it in on a future Wishlist, to allow RGBA output in VideoStudio
