Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
I think I understand. However, assuming you have the clapping audio separated (VS calls this Split Audio) from the video, when the clapping is loud manually (don't use any automatic fading) bring its volume down and then cut it when you want it gone.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
Aljimenez - The audio is not split from the video for this concert but rather is audio recorded by an audio engineer that I laid down on the audio track and then had to sync with the video, but sometimes I cut the part of the audio track to switch back to the audio in the video (not split) to get better sound on talking, introductions etc. or clearer clapping. Either way audio on the audio track or in the video track, often no matter how long I made the audio fade I still often get the blip. I don't want to bring the volume down for the whole clip. Well, I'll do more experimenting. I recorded another concert and have another one to do tomorrow.
This glitch has been pretty frustrating for these music concerts. Hope what I'm doing makes sense. These are hard projects for me but I've been doing it with Corel for 8 years, lol. I know you'd never guess 8 years. This forum has been such a help. I've had this problem for the last 3 or so years, having to to dink around with the video and audio tracks to work around this fade glitch. Syncing audio with the video is another can of worms. Audio wave lengths are too tiny especially on the audio track for the recording I'm using for this project. I have a news camerman friend for KTLA TV down here who uses a fancy program that syncs automatically, they have the best of the best cameras and software of course. I'm trying to do syncing manually but the truth is I'm getting so I can hit the sync on the first try. Syncing is a whole other story, total eye strain, maybe I'll retire from this next concert season, lol.
Have a good night.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
Hi Candy
I can only assume that the blips you are hearing after fades is because of the lower level sound.
As I say we have asked Corel to address the audio fade / sound mixer levels.
As Al says can you cut the last portion, maybe cutting 10 seconds.
Then create a sound file of that clip to edit in audacity, setting a fade out over the last 4 seconds or so.
Then replace the clip on your project.
If you can upload your clip to a sharing site we could try to replicate the sound problem?

Trevor: I am using NCH Wave Pad Sound Editor, I could use that too, right?
I'll try to put a clip of the problem on One Drive, after I do another recording tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
Hi Candy
Trevor's explanation for the blips rings true to me (pun intended). My initial thoughts, based on internet research, were the glitches were probably hardware related – a devil to pin down.
I also understand, as I'm sure you do, what aljimenez is suggesting.
VideoStudio is a very powerful NLE considering the reasonably low cost, but it can lack refinement in certain areas. The overlay tracks being positioned beneath the main video track for example. Another is the audio associated with the main video track being hidden unless the Sound Mixer mode is chosen. That is why I sometimes split the audio from the main video clips, just to see what is going on, especially if the audio to accompany the video is from an external source. The relatively small wave form graphics does make it a little difficult to align/sync.
Previously I have downloaded Applause sound clips from various internet sources. Using these I have been unable to replicate the scratchy blips you are experiencing. Therefore my suggestions were and still are based on flying blind.
You're obviously experienced in editing these concerts, so trying not to teach Granny (bet you are younger than me!) how to suck eggs,...
The audience watching your DVD of the concert will appreciate you fading the applause at the end of a musical piece, and will know instinctively that it has been truncated “artificially”. So, could you fade to a level just above normal audible, overlap the next clip with a fade in and blend the audio tracks such that it does not need to go to absolute zero (- infinity)? The -36dB that VS goes down to is pretty low, it would be the sudden spike (blip) that would jar if it was there, so blending with other audio should eliminate it. The use of a video transition/graphic at the same time would serve as another distraction. ( I have been accused of being cheesy before).
Just saw your latest post – em....NCH Wave Pad Sound Editor … will look it up,.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
John, thanks for your reply. Finally figured out why you would split out the audio to see the wave. I've been going back and forth from the sound mixer to video. If you edit the video then you'd have to edit the audio track, sort of double edit right?
Well, on my main issue of the fade out audio blip. I dinked around with it yesterday or day before and got those blips to go away except for two, but I got the volume low enough at them to not be bad and I'm going with that. I think what I mostly did was elongate the fade on a couple and on a couple more faded them to mute with one or two seconds as mute.
Trevor - I tried to make the blip error reproduce on a 30 second project and then render as an MPEG4 but couldn't get it to reproduce. The blip is usually not offensive in the project and is obvious in the rendered file. I have two more concerts to edit so if I get one I'll try to send link to a short version.
I appreciate everyone's help so much.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
This was a known problem in X8 and x9. Corel supposedly made a patch to fix in X9. I was still using x8 and tried all sorts of work arounds to get rid of the offending glitch. Always happens as one audio track fades out and next begins bit w no consistency. Doesnt happen in all tracks or all the time. If i have 5-6 songs in a project it may happen just 1-2 times or if I put a cut/loop on a song.
Sometimes i have found that if i eliminate the fade out, the glitch goes away. Someimes i render the audio track in a new project w the fade out -- no glitch -- so i import that clip to my project. You never hear the gitch in edit mode.. it only appears while rendering.
I think its windows 10 related as i never had this problem in x7 when i was on win 7?
I just reported to corel today that the offending audio glitch was still present in X 10!! I was shocked!! ( and annoyed)
They have to fix this. Its becoming impossible to use the software without addressing this issue. I lose so much time trying to work around this. Its offensive.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
Ilene - Yes, same here. I have spent lots of time dinking around with crossfades to get rid of this glitch, and right, it does not become evident until render, although I can now hear a very very slight hint of it in the project. This is happening to me with Win 7 Pro. I haven't upgraded to Win 10 yet.

Hi Candy
Ilene’s recent post here
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 15#p344007
I replied asking Ilene to provide a Smart Package of the problem project.
Are you able to do the same.
That may help in locating the problem, I do not see we can move on any further without testing your files.

Re: X9 Pro audio fade out causes scratchy blip
It sounds like the problem I've encountered with X10 namely, "I've added narration to a VSP and it sounds fine in the preview window but when I render the file as a m2t file the audio has glitches at the end of some of the sound clips" (see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61631).cdoughertycd wrote:This doesn't happen all the time but with X9 Pro when I fade audio at the end of a clip to the next one usually with crossfade I sometimes get a little scratchy blip.
I've found no solution.

Please call Corel and report the issue. They must fix this problem. It's a basic feature of editng software and unacceptable that we have his problem. They have been researcuing thisnsince inreported it last fall. They claimed to have fixed it with a patch made available for x9 in december, but clearly the problem carried over to x10!
Please call!!

Hi IleneIlene wrote:What is the best method to send you the sp file?
Sharing files.
There are many sharing options, most devices, phones, tablets have means to save files.
Google Drive, One Drive and DropBox are some that forum users have used.
I have a Microsoft One Drive account, whichever you choose you are best in setting up your own on your pc.
But if you are having problems doing that I have shared a folder with you, appropriately called “Ilene - Candy” you should be able to upload files there.
Post updated, link removed, request from Ilene.
The folder will be available for 30 days
Candy, please feel free to use the same folder, unless of course you have your own options?
