Hi So, I was making a video the other day, and when I got home and put the clips in the editor I noticed some smudge on the Lense of the Camera which slightly effected the picture of my footage and I want to clear this up.
Is there a way to do this in Corel?
Thanks
Rob

Re: How to fix Lense Smudge in Corel X10?
I guess it would depend on where the smudge is on the picture. I don't think you can get rid of something that has been recorded as part of the picture but if the smudge is close to an edge, you could try Auto Pan from the FX and try and move the picture to hide the smudge. Auto Pan will enlarge and shift the centre to hide the original edge. I don't think there is anything that will "rub" the lens clean.
Another option may be to put a mask around the picture. If you pull the clip down onto an overlay track and select mask from the Options, you may be able to hide the smudge if it is near the edge.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

What setting do I need to use in Options to tidy this up?

If I may pop in with an idea - now I am picturing either translucent/transparent smudging, or a 'small' smudge - depending on the type of footage you are shooting for, you can try adding a Film Grain effect to the video. This effect is useful for hiding compression artifacts and small particles like dust, etc - I am thinking it can also be used to 'hide' smudging (depending on what type of smudge it is). Just an idea

Auto Pan is in the FX window and can be adjusted using the "cross hair" on the Customise Filter page. For the mask effect, the clip needs to be dragged into an overlay track and fitted to screen. Open Options, click on Mask and Chromakey then on Apply Overlay options. Open the drop down menu (it says Chromakey with a down arrow next to it) and select Mask Frame, choose a suitable mask from the panel that opens.RobCharles1981 wrote:Hi there,Terfyn wrote:I guess it would depend on where the smudge is on the picture. I hope you are able to tidy this bit of video somehow but remember "A clean lens is a happy lens"

Re: How to fix Lense Smudge in Corel X10?
In New Blue Video Essentials there is a filter called Touch Up. I tried it with a shot that included a wire mesh fence. It reduced but did not eliminate the wire of the fence. I, as yet, cannot see how you can remove a smudge completely as it is in the original video, if it was a photo (i.e. one frame) then you could copy some background over the smudge and eliminate it that way. Sorry to be of little help.
How is your bit of Wales. Are there any video clubs in your area?. Some photo clubs up here but no video that I can find.

If I may be so bold as to ask: if it does not overstep any confidentiality/privacy boundaries, could you share a few seconds of the clip, so that those who wish to, can play with effects and filters that may help with it?
