I'm really upset at the moment. I just now lost over many months' work. The Corel Developers failed to include error-handling which could have prevented it or, at least, restored it back to how it was just moments ago.
I moved the bottom-half of my screen display (where the timelines are located) by accident. My mouse stuck and drug that section one inch towards the right. Neither did dragging it back resolve the now-increased size of the image area.
So, I looked at the Preferences options and saw the option having something to do with "resetting the library..." Since I wanted to reset my display (UI) again, I tried that. But, there was NO WARNING... NO EXPLANATION ABOUT CONSEQUENCES and, the damned thing took off automatically and wiped-out a dozen of my custom-named libraries, filled with a hundred different videos, photos, sound files, etc. which were included into each custom library! It wiped-out almost a full year of effort!!!
Does anyone know if there is a restore or a backup file or even a "hidden backup file" somewhere on my Windows 7 Pro Operating System? It not, then Corel shouldn't even be in the business of selling such error-prone and error-filled software. This is inexcusable! They've had MANY YEARS of development time yet, they overlooked some something so damned important and never bothered to help prevent this from happening or recovering when it does happen.. Obviously, I'm upset. I tried "UNDO" immediately but it only "undid" the last change to the position of a photo clip in my timeline. That's absolutely absurd.
I don't have a backup hard drive. I haven't rebooted my system yet, either. I'm hoping somebody might know what I can do, if anything.
I'm using Corel Video Studio Pro, Ultimate version 9.5.
Corel did it to me, again.

Re: Corel did it to me, again.
I RECOVERED MY FILES. I RE-CREATED ALL THE CUSTOM LIBRARY FOLDERS AND REFILLED THEM. --THAT ISSUE IS NOW RESOLVED.
I got lucky for once. I restored most of what Corel destroyed. I recalled something that Brian C.(?) said a long time ago about he organizes files on his hard drive. His suggestion saved my butt.
That doesn't change the fact that Corel did a lousy job of preventing and/or recovering from situations like this one. How damned hard would it be for them to add pop-up warnings with completely understandable text (at the time a user presses an option to view it -- before the catastrophe happens)? Or, they could/should incorporate USER-RESTORE points, just like Microsoft does?
Like I said, I only got lucky.

Re: Corel did it to me, again.
Corel indeed is far far away from perfect but it will never can cope with a user who dosen't keep some basic computer management skills. Why you reset your library if it had nothing to do with your problem? and if it is loaded with gazillion clips why you don't backup it regularly. it's just pointers files you know.
But good you are now back on the track even you lost a beat.

Pleased to see you have everything back
regarding the moved timeline - all 3 elements of the user interface can be moved and resized to where ever you want them on screen - even on to a second monitor if you wish
but having moved them and wishing to restore the default you press 'F7' - - or - go to " Settings >> Layout settings >> Switch to >> Default" and the standard layout will be restored. In that setting you will also see the option to save and return to your own personal layout settings
Go crazy if you want to

Hi
The program provides ways of saving your library as a backup.
Settings Library Manager – Export Library will do that.
Then you can Restore Library from that backup.
The third option to Reset Library is useful when your library becomes corrupt, this option could save you re-installing the program. This returns the library back to its first installed state
It does however give you a warning asking if you really wish to reset, maybe could be worded better, but does give you chance to think about your actions.
