Transitions on Overlay tracks are affecting main Video track

Post by TroyTheTech »

Just wondering if there is a way to apply a Transition only to one Overlay layer.

As it is, if I take a video in X10 and have it in an overlay layer, and then apply a transition to it (dragging to the Overlay track), it affects the main Video track as well (the effect happens on 'everything', whereas I only want it to affect the Overlay track/event/clip it is attached to).

Thanks for any input (perhaps I am missing something) :?:

You don't say which version of VS you are using, but in the last two or three, if you look at the Transitions menu, you will see there is a separate listing for Overlay transitions. Those are the ones that only work in the overlay timelines. The rest will, as you have found, affect the main timeline as well as the overlays.

Sorry, I said "X10" in the post but I didn't make it clear, or put it in the Subject. I'll try remember that nexttime.

That's it! Thank you, I didn't see that pull-down list at all. Thanks so much!

Not at all, my good man - thou must partake more than a satchel of these writs a day whereas I pen but a twin in a fortnight, at best!
