Updates won't Install

Post by hEdly »

Hi all,
I've got two issues.
First, I've got an issue where audio becomes delayed after rendering. I"ve seen a post about this but it didn't seem to have a resolution.

So before I try to find a solution to that, I wanted to update VS x9 to SP4.
I'm on a brand new computer because my old one would shut off during render. I mean no BSOD...must whamo! All systems off!

So, I got a refurbished HP with the system specs you see to the right. I added an additional 8GB of ram. Everything seems to be running fine (this thing is fast). After it was all up and running with all updates, I installed VSx9 and have rendered some home videos and they are mostly OK except for the above mentioned audio sync issue. I was able to get the blu-ray authoring tool reinstalled as well.

So, when I tried to install service pack 9.5 (because you need that for SP4) I get the error as seen in the attachment.
VS9 Update Fail.jpg
In case it doesn't show up and you don't want to open it, it says the following:
The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will not terminate.
The system has not been modified. To install his program at a later time, run the installation again.
I have no option but to exit out.

I've tried to install SP1, but no dice. As well with SP2.

Any ideas?
complete uninstall and reinstall?

That message is Corel's very curious way of saying that in fact your version of VS is fully up to date and no extra updates are required. Equally, you won't be able to install SP1 and 2 because they to are already included in the version you have installed.

When you go to Help > About in VS, what version is shown? My fully patched version shows as 19.6.0.1.

Ken,
Thank you. So I guess my next question will be about the audio delay. But I'll poke around a bit before I ask for help. I did find a post (here: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60234) about it and it seems similar to my issue. But I'll start a new post if needed.

Thanks. You and lata are so quick to reply. Espeically when neither of you are in my time zone.

All the best

Yes. Best to start a separate thread on a separate subject. But one thing you might want to play around with is to disable SmartRender when rendering out your project. SmartRender used to cause some users problems of out of sync audio and video, which sounds like what you might be having.
