I'm getting the same notice. Clicking on the popup window does nothing. So I grabbed the location of the file and pasted it into both IE 10 and Edge, nothing happens with IE, but edge wants me to find an app that can open a pcucmd file. I've contacted Corel, still waiting on a response... so we'll see...

After receiving some update messages and then deleting the items in the Messages folder I am not getting any messages. Did you also untick the two items under Help > Message Preferences.

Here's a quote from one of the first search hits using Google for PCUCMD File. The post is dated, waay back in 2009. I'm doing a search on my PC to see if I can locate a similar folder, file. Corel may have changed things though.

Corel is currently offering PSP X for free to Lexar customers. But they don't verify your Lexar status. Though this is not the latest version, it is still pretty powerful and adequate to most users.

Here is the URL:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite? ... n&trkid=CJ

Just register your name and email address, then download. No key is needed for the install. The download file is 106MB large.

There is a nag screen everytime the program terminates, asking the user to upgrade to PSP XII.

To disable the annoying nag screen (make sure PSP is not running) :-
(1) Open the file ‘C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X\PCUUI\Container.htm’ in notepad.
(2) Erase all the text and insert the following single line...
location=”pcucmd://Cancel?confirm=no”;
(3) Save the changed file and exit notepad.

You will not see the nag screen next time when you terminate the program.

This offer may not last long. Need to grab it fast.

P.S.
Is the free download URL still valid as of July 21?
Would those who have tried to download, please report either success or failure, for the benefit of others?
Thanks!
So Corel has done things like this in the past. However since the offer is long since expired, this post on Steve's Digicams forum provides a possible solution to those nag screens.

Since I disabled the Receive Notifications I'm not getting the screen any more. It's definitely built into the program, and not coming from Corel Updates as it might imply. If it were, then the Check For Updates should give info about the latest version instead of offering the free upgrade to a version that is obsolete. Just what is the point of incorporating it in a program in the first place?

I'm getting this same message when I look for upgrades :(
a google brought me here. So do people think this is a hack then?
I downloaded an purchased this software direct from Corel, so not sure how it could be anything other than them?
If its a hack and malware/spyware, its not doing a grand job as clicking the link takes you nowhere?

from opening the message and checking out the source behind the html page, there is an embedded link:

http://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloa ... lOffer.exe

opening this link just reverts to the main corel page though

all very odd

Just had long annoying chat with Corel where they maintain this offer is no longer available (then why are people seeing it?)
I have asked to be contacted by a manager

Not just a matter of no longer being available, it appears it's not been available for a very long time due to the obsolescence of X7. So the question has to be why has the offer only just started to appear? If it had just been mine I could have believed it to just be a glitch due to the GoogleAdService (which the link appears to be related to in some way), but there seem to be too many others getting exactly the same thing starting to happen at exactly the same time - it's as if there's some sort of timer trigger built into the coding of the program. This leads me to believe that if this is the case, then are they not in breach of the Trades Descriptions Act by openly stating on their own product entitlement to a program that no longer exists?
