Free Upgrade To PSP X7
I have been running PSP X2 for years. I am now getting a popup telling me that I am entitled to a Free Upgrade to PSP X7. However, when I click on the link to get it, nothing happens apart from returning to the previous popup. Is there a direct link I can use?

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
This is the first time I have heard of any such offer from Corel, and it doesn't sound right... When you hover your mouse over the link, does a URL appear down in the bottom left of your monitor screen showing what the link is supposed to connect to? If so, does it contain 'corel.com' anywhere in it?

But if you simply hover your mouse over the highlighted word "here" and look down to the bottom left of your monitor, does a URL show up there?

Nothing on mouse over, but on clicking urls momentarily flash past - managed to catch the following screenshot - then it goes onto the next splashscreen, but when you click on the Update Now link it just returns to the initial popup.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
I have no idea how Corel manages their messages. What you're showing comes from some website that uses Google Tag Manager. I'm certain it did not come from Corel. I would contact Corel, and show them the screenshot of the offer. Play dumb, I mean it purports to be Corel's offer. Don't hold your breath on them agreeing to it. They might at least investigate why you're getting that message from inside their program. One other thing, did you purchase your X2 from Corel? If not that could have came from the website where you purchased it from.
Those marketing adds, track your internet activity. If you notice adds that are geared to apps/programs might use, or websites that offer programs, will follow you and appear on a lot of the pages you visit. For example, I frequent an Eagle Nest Cam site, and I get Canon, and Corel adds all the time. I also have been using an add-blocker to stop a lot of them.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
Another thing -- are you using Internet Explorer 10 or higher as your browser, as requested by that second Update message? If indeed the message actually comes from Corel, then a number of different problems associated with either downloading or installing a Corel program seem to be fixed in most cases using Internet Explorer. You could try setting it temporarily as default browser and see if that allows a download. Then you could revert to your normal default browser once X7 is installed.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
I have IE 11 installed, but don't use it unless I have to. I much prefer to use Firefox.
I've been getting a lot of GoogleAdServices redirects lately (mainly on Amazon links), which I think the GoogleTag thing is related to, but they are only redirects, not originators. I have them blocked, which just takes me to a null page, but the Update link doesn't take me anywhere.
I spoke to Corel online & they said that both of those products are no longer supported & considered as obsolete.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
Well, yes. X7 is also in the obsolete category. But the Corel people didn't say why you were getting the message. Quite a few years ago, Adobe made an old version of Photoshop (CS2 -- version 9 if IIRC) free with a SN as well. I have to confess I still use it since I was never, ever going to use all of that version's capabilities, let alone more recent versions'. But one could be easily misled by the msg you received into believing you were getting a similar deal, with the thought that X7 could also meet all your needs if you had been happy, until now, using X2... So I would personally challenge that Corel advice your received, though I would continue to expect a negative answer from them. As I said above, I have never heard of a similar offer before, and I would have thought it would have come up well and truly by now since quite a few (?) other users out there probably still use X2 but have never reported this offer.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
It's strange that if it were a scam I would have expected it to be an offer to upgrade to the latest X9 Ultimate.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
On PSP X6 I get a pop up to upgrade to X9 with special pricing. You may be getting the X7 pop up because X2 is so old and the embedded web links are expired.

I have the same problem. I contacted Corel about this and they asked me to reset some preferences and the database. This had no effect on the issue. Now waiting for their reply.

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
I have recently been getting a message that says an update for X2 is available. My version is 12.5 and I think that is the latest version. The message shows in bottom right corner as the OP mentions.
Mouse over does not provide any about the link.
I cancelled it and then did a search for updates from within X2. Again said an update was available but this time showed a link - http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/xx numbers . I only copied part of the link and tried to go to that page . It does not exist in that form and throws you to the main page http://www.corel.com/en/
I then went to my messages file
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages
and deleted all messages in that folder.
Opened X2 again and searched for updates and this time it said there are no updates.
Went back and looked at that messages folder and now there are two entries again, but so far cannot see which verion of PSP activates those messages - not X2, not X7

Re: Free Upgrade To PSP X7
I removed the message as well, as well as disabling notifications, and it disappeared on startup, but as soon as I did a check for updates it came back. This implies to me that it is, indeed, coming from Corel.
