script output hijacking effect functions

Post by goldtwh »

Every time I try to use one of the Effect functions (dropshadow, seamless function, etc.), a Script Output window pops up and blocks the Effect I am trying to utilize. I am NOT even trying to use a script (restricted or trusted), just the simple direct EFFECT function. It is like the Script Output hijacks the EFFECT function I am trying to use.

Thank you,
Jill

What is the message you get in the script output window?

I have attached a screen capture of the situation
The EFFECT window goes away immediately upon the Script Window popping up.
I had to instantly keep trying to capture the screen so I could get both images on the screen captured at the same time.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Just in case you cannot read the image. The error message says:

-------Command Execute Failed------
Command Name: Seamless Tiling
Error Text: The attempted operation is not valid in the current program state.

I have removed the database file.
I have emptied all Caches.
I have tried most all the EFFECTs options.
I have rebooted multiple times.
PlugIns work okay.

Have you tried a factory reset? NOTE: This will reset everything, toolbars, how palettes are arranged, menu options, shortcut keys. Everything. so if you've made extensive changes you will want to save the workspace first. File -> Workspaces -> Save.

To reset PSP -
Close PSP, then while holding SHIFT open PSP again. It'll ask if you wan to reset the application to factory defaults.

Sometimes the workspace gets corrupted and causes weird effects.

Thank you... I wonder if I use a different workspace that I have previously saved might work.
Hmmmm.

Save your current workspace. If the reset works, reload your workspace. It may turn out fine.

If resetting works and reloading breaks it again. Yes you will have to start from scratch. But just save your workspace once you've finished setting it back up, then you will know it's clean.

Thanks very much
I have to mull on this for awhile... LOL
I do have a new version PSP X8 that I have never installed (box version), maybe I will just upgrade to it and move my 15.0 folder to the new 18.0 version.
What do you think of doing that?

I say install X8 and try it for a while before making a full switch. X7 introduced some changes to the UI and so did X8. Depends on how things changed vs how you use PSP. Thankfully PSP plays nicely with itself so you can have X5 and X8 installed at the same time.
