X8 - Can't remember block build video effect

Post by Retroscener »

Hi everyone.

Some time ago, I made a template to an intro I created for my online videos. I'm a bit of a retro gaming geek. Yes I have a girlfriend (long suffering).

Anyway, the template was quite important as now and again with new YouTube uploads, I could add snippets of previous videos into the intro.

However, due to carelessness, I accidentally deleted the original template. I now aim to try recreate it as close as possible for future videos.

But I've already hit upon a problem. One of the video effects needed I can't find. I have since reinstalled Corel VideoStudio X8, maybe I did some update which has removed the original effect. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place.

Here is a link to one of my videos which has the intro. The name "retroscener" appears piece by piece in blocks. This is the effect I wish to recreate, but cannot seem to find where.

Help would be appreciated :(

It's not checker build, it's mosaic under FX.

Hi

If you saved the intro as a template via File – Export as Template then it should be saved to this folder.
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate

Also every project you have made will have that intro, open any project, vsp file, unless you have deleted every VSP / project file.

Thanks for the replies.

As I said, I accidentally deleted the template files from the template folder a long while back

I've tried mosaic, unfortunately it isn't the one.

I think I might have discovered what the problem might be. When I ordered X8. It came with "NewBlue FX - Paint Effects" as part of a bigger download bundle. It was previously installed on an old PC of mine. But when that PC went kaput, I didn't uninstall the product. So now when I installed it on my new PC (this one), and entered the license key to activate the full version. I got the message that the key has already been used the maximum number of times. Please first deactivate it on another computer. So of course I'm now stuck with a trial version, which I am guessing comes with limited effects, missing the one I needed.

I'll try contacting customer support on Monday, as it suggested. See if they can unlock it for me. I won't hold my breath though.

Anyway, in the meantime I found a very long workaround with a similar "Dissolve" effect using Microsoft Movie Maker, via it's transition function, which I then trimmed and saved that part then stretched it to the required time length with X8. It's worked out pretty well, I think it looks better tbh.

Anyway, thanks for your time.

Looking at your YouTube clip, It appears to be Digital Noise. I didn't purchase X8, I went from X7 to X9 and now X10, so I have no way to check. I did check X9 and there's no FX similar to that one. I reinstalled X7 and there's no noise/static fx in it. Anyway I done some searching and found where you can get a free tv static video clip. Videezy.com Tv Static

I think if you explain the circumstances to Corel, they will issue an activation code. In the past I've had to call for the same and they had no problem doing so.

Hi Retroscener

I assume you are referring to registering the main X8 program or are you referring to the New Blue Filter.

It is strange as I install the programs a lot and have never received an error during registration.

If it is Video Studio X8, turn off your internet connection, then try running the program, choose to register later.

FX Filters
Unless the filter was a free extra
All FX filters bundled with Video Studio are installed with the main program.
If you try to install these separately, we get request to provide a serial number, or asking to register.
We do not get that when installing correctly via the program packs.

I do not have the "NewBlue FX - Paint Effects" so I assume an additional pack, but that pack will only install on X8.

Hi lata
I'm referring to the New Blue Filter. My license key no longer works for it. X8 is fine.

@asik1
I presume so. Just uninstall it first on my previous PC. But I was unable to when the PC went totally kaput on me, and I no longer have the machine anyway.

@Ron P
Thanks for the clip, but instead I had downloaded my Youtube video and extracted the original clip of the white noise from there in MP4 format, saving just that piece as a small separate file for my new template. The quality is still very much good enough. I will try contacting either New Blue and Corel sometime soon. See which one is able to help reactivate my license key. I'll let you know if they do.

Anyway, I'm about halfway done with it now. currently adding the Pac-Man animation, which isn't straight-forward. There's just no way to add animated gif's properly in X8. But there is a very nice workaround.
