i have been using this for a while now, and everything was going good for the most part (only have had 1 bad render that pixelated like crazy)..until today
i now have a huge collection of videos that play great through literally anything but VS. when i go to edit them i am experiencing audio sync problems on some videos, on the ones with no audio sync issue it either shows me black screens at random points but still plays the audio or the video stalls while still playing audio. i noticed this after rendering a few clips this morning and they was nothing but artifacts (save for one video that after rendering played perfectly fine, until about 3 minutes in and then it skipped to the end)
could this be an issue with the windows 10 update? maybe a bit rate that these videos were recorded?...either way VS seems to hate these files. they were recorded with geforce experience (most of my videos have been in the past as well)

Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
Welcome to the forum -- though I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.
Is your X9 fully patched?
I note that GeForce Experience uses the H.264 (AVCHD) encoder, and can film up to 4K at 130 Mbps. Video Studio normally has no difficulties with H.264. What settings do you use for your captures?
In Preferences > General, have you ticked the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip"? If so, when rendering are you selecting "Same As Project Settings" or some other output format?
With the out-of-sync problems, have you tried turning off SmartRender?

Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
i have tried all of those settings, smartrender on/off same as project, and not same....
i record some of my videos at 60fps, others at 30 fps. and 30 or 50 bit rate. it just depends on what i am recording what settings i use.
i am fully patched up, and before now have only had one video go bad on me during render.
the problem i am having now is not even just after a render, its while editing. the audio is out of sync, i get black frames, freezes, and then after render either total pixlation or the video file just skips right to the end. i can play every one of these files with ANY media player, and they are fine.. when i go to edit these in VS they are choppy, pixelated, out of sync...etc

Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
I suspect pc power for these problems, but your pc, if accurate should be good. Need more details to diagnose.
Are you seeing problems when playing clip or in project play?
Edits: trims, filters, transitions?
Try proxy files, or converting files with Format Factory

Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
clip and project play both give me this problem. regardless if any editing has been done or not (honestly the only editing i am trying to do for these particular videos is cut a few parts out, and split them into shorter clips).
i just tried format factory as you said..
i must have made an oopsie on the settings lol VS wouldnt allow me to edit the file after. any settings u might be able to recommend? (hopefully one where i dont turn a 5gb file into a 23 again )

Did you try proxy files?

Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
I think we need your file properties, if you have used a codec to make your 23gb file into a 5gb file it may be that VS doesn't like the codec you have used.Mytur2 wrote: i must have made an oopsie on the settings lol VS wouldnt allow me to edit the file after. any settings u might be able to recommend? Re: VS x9 playback and render problems
well i have discovered 3 issues on my own here that have reduced my problem enough that i can manually fix the audio if i need to (as long as the frames are not being skipped, pixlated, etc) and the 5gb file was the original, i just had turned it into a 23gb file with a bad setting somewhere in formatfactory...(i figured all that out now) i have only been using an editor now for a month or two, before that the only recording i ever created was tutorials with Fraps...so much of this is very new to me
variable frame rates are apparently a no-no
if i record anything that is more than an hour long i have about a 50/50 chance of it being worthless recording inside VS (and also once the original file itself was trash)
video such as a gameplay that the game itself has in-game audio and i also have any sort of VOIP program running i end up with audio issues in the editor.
