VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
Recently purchased a Backstreet-Surveillance Security Cam system The AVI files are created at 720x480 using H264 encoding, frame rate is 20 seconds and bit rate is 2048 however when importing these files they fail. The same is true with Pinnacle however Sorenson Squeeze version 9 (another compression software package) had no issues opening these files and that software is about 5 years old or more..
the default bit rate was 1024 I simply doubled the bit rate
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

Hi
I do not think Video Studio supports H264.AVI formats.
Certainly we cannot output to that format.
You should contact Corel Support for their opinion of H264.AVI.
Does your camera record to other formats, try H264.MP4 or are you able to use a video converter to create MP4.

what do you mean by "frame rate is 20 seconds" - frame rate is measured in 'frames per second' (fps) - do you mean your frame rate is 20fps ?

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
Did a bit more digging and was able to find these properties of the video which plays fine in VLC in fact when I choose MEDIA then Convert/Save in VLC I can convert these files to MP4 and then they open in VS10 Ultimate..amazing what free software can do
Stream 0: H264 MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) / 2560x1440 Resolution (not what was mentioned prior), Frame Rate 19, Decoded Format:Planar 4:2:0 YUV Full Scale
Stream 1: PCM S16 LE (araw) / Sample rate 8000Hz / BPS 16 / BR 128kb
Thanks
Rev
That would be correct

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
Not trying to output to that Format merely importing these AVI files. This camera system only allows for this format AVI H264. Just bought this VS Pro 10 ultimate about 2 weeks ago. I gather I can go to their web site and start a ticket or if you know of a better method to reach out that would be great - thankslata wrote:Hi

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
Well I opted to give this a try and no success..the video in the storyboard shows black. I did try MPG as a rename and though it took a long time to load, this actually worked. Thanks for the tipasik1 wrote:...and what if you just rename them to .mp4?
UPDATE: the video sure loads but VS Studio becomes unstable and editing is not possible

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
AVI is just a wrapper and can contain one of over 800 different file types.
What you need to find out is what codec was used to make the file, install this in your pc and hope VS can pull it in.
It may not, as it will depend on how the codec is made etc etc.

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
This is about as large as this site will permit -1.96 MB max is 2MB
I tried all of these options:
This site would not accept AVI or MPG files, I then renamed it to JPG then I still get an error "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct.
The file is too big, maximum allowed size is 500 KiB."
The same error if I try a TXT or a ZIP -
Upload then is not possible at least here but open to ideas
Thanks for the help

Hi
Sorry but the forum does not allow to upload large files.
You should use a free sharing site, Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, DropBox have been used in the past.
Upload to one of those then provide a Share Link here.

I'm a bit more careful than just installing software such as DropBox which open up ports on your PC. I'll upload this to my own FTP site and then share a link first chance I getasik1 wrote:Rev, you forgot the gezilion sharing sites?

Re: VideoCam System AVI files don't import to Corel VS U10
Interesting clip. Video Studio X10 fully patched will play it in Clip mode, though the clip in the Library window shows only as a two tone box, with black on the top half and white on the bottom. It also inserts into the timeline, but shows as black there.
Its Properties are Microsoft AVI using the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, 2560 x 1440, no audio. As I said, it plays in Clip mode and the quality appears excellent. But inserting it into the timeline does not bring up a message asking if I want the Project Properties to match. In Share, Same As First Clip is not available.
When I tried playing it in Project mode (with Project Properties set to AVCHD), the cursor ran through the clip, but nothing played.
I tried rendering it to an AVCHD file 1920 x 1080, but got an error message saying that it required an Indeo Type 3 decoder.
