I have this problem with creating a converting video file to MPEG.
The video is capture in 640 X 480 *.avi file
In order to burn it as DVD, I need to convert it into MPEG file. But I realised that I cannot keep the resolution as 640 X 480, only able to change to 1 of the 4 pre-set resolution. This great damage the video quality, so I hope I can seek advise from the community.
The other problem is all my burned DVD has this problem. All the lower part are out of the TV screen when played. Lower Part as in e.g the sub-title portion of an anime. I wander is it possible to to create the DVD, that the upper and lower of the portion of the screen are "black-out" and the movie will be in the middle... just like in the movie, and also at the same time keeping my 640X480 resolution on the pre-set MPEG 720X576.
I am currently using ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO 7.
Thanks.
Video Keeping It's Resolution and Within the Screen

resolution and screen
Try going to project properties and click Edit. Try settings you want with your compression in NTSC or PAL with DVD, SVCD, and VCD in Project Options menu. This will determine your output in your project. I think your captured resolution 640x480 can't support DVD which is up to 720x576, you'll have to use VCD and SVCD standards to make your project support the required resolution. And with your screen, I think you need to upgrade to VS9 to be able to use 16:9 widescreen format to have upper and lower portion to black. ^_^
