I'd like to change the audio on a video clip from stereo to mono (see following image):
I don't see an audio filter to do this. How can this be done in VS X10?
Thanks.

Try this:-
Drag the clip to the timeline. Click on sound mixer, then on Attribute and Duplicate Audio Channel.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Ummm, Terfyn, that process is for making a single audio channel a dual/stereo one, whereas the user wants exactly the opposite -- though why tletter wants that puzzles me!Terfyn wrote:Drag the clip to the timeline. Click on sound mixer, then on Attribute and Duplicate Audio Channel.
I don't think VS can do it, though it will be interesting if anyone can see a way. The only way I can think of would be to extract the audio and use an external audio editor to roll the two channels into one.

Hi
If you do Share – Mpeg4 choosing a suitable template.
Then select the + symbol to add a template you can choose the audio option “AudioType” AMR from the Compression tab, that appears to change the audio to Mono.
You may be best in creating your own template using Movie Profile Manager, there you can use the Add option to copy your video files profile, then edit to change the audio settings.

Re: How to change audio from stereo to mono?
Because the audio in this clip sounds much better in mono than stereo since all stereo recordings are not created equal.Ken Berry wrote:why tletter wants that puzzles me!
I was wanting to change the audio on just one clip in a project with many stereo clips. In any event, Audacity converts stereo to mono so the problem is solved.Iata wrote:If you do Share – Mpeg4 choosing a suitable template.
Thanks for replying.
