Color Changer tool

Post by FlaHillbilly »

I am having a problem selecting the Color Changer Tool. In toolbox it coexists with the Flood Fill and Gradiant Fill tools. You seem to be able to select one of the three. However, whenever I select the Color Chanter (or gradiant fill, for that matter), I have a problem. The icon on the toolbox palette shows the correct icon (Color Changer or Gradiant Fill), but when I move the cursor over to the image, it only appears as the Flood Fill icon and it only behaves as the Flood Fill Tool. How do I actually get the Color Changer tool up to use on an image?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

You could try resetting the tool by selecting the tool and clicking on the Preset icon on the Tools Toolbar and then clicking on the arrow. If you hover over the arrow you will see it says Reset to Default. If that does not work your can try the following method.

Note: The above knowledge base article references PSPX6 but it will work for any version.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them, but to no effect. No matter which of the fill tools I select from the toolbox, only the Flood Fill tool seems to track the cursor over the image and to be available.

There does not seem to be a different icon for the Color Changer tool. It has the same icon as the flood fill (at least as far back as PSP X2 that I could test). Its activity also looks like a flood fill but in various shades whereas the flood fill has the same shade and density in all places it is applied.
You can see the usage of the Color Changer in this video from Corel using X5

Thanks, I think that was the problem: I had the mind set that the icon at the cursor should match the icon on the toolbox panel.
