SHIFTING THE AXIS

Post by JASE »

Howdy, I am building a logo which is made up of 8 pieces. The logo is built from Jpegs which have been converted into vectors in cool 3D. This part is complete.
What I want to do is rotate each individual piece and fly them in one after the other. Each piece is currently rotating around the AXIS which is in the center of the screen. (The logo once it has formed from th 8 pieces is circular) It appears the only way to shift the axis is to shift the vector object in the path editor so it is over the cross in the center of the screen. Unfortunately when this is done the piece ends up in the wrong final position and has to be manually repositioned.
Is there another way to do this? Ideally I would like to shift the axis to each individual piece for their own rotation without compromising it's correct position within the logo. Once each piece is spinning individualy then I will be doing a global rotate on the whole lot.

I'm not sure how you created your objects, but something wrong may have happened early on. Each object typically starts with the axes centered within the object. The fact that yours are going around the global x-axis implies to me that your small object is part of a bigger whole.

Use the group menu to see if your logo is split into sub-objects. By highlighting the sub-objects, you should be able to spin them around their own centers.

You are right, each object was part of a bigger logo which I had split up to create vector images within Cool 3D. I ended up repositioning the components in the path editor then readjusting the texture to fit. All the components then flew in with rotation to create the overall logo which had a final global rotate on it. This is great software it has definately given some serious "Bling" to a lot of our projects. Normally we would outsource to 3D animation studios for 3D logo's text etc.. so the cost saving is immense. What it needs now is the ability to apply 3D textures!
Thanks for the reply
