X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
The same problem existed in X9 Ultimate.
Drop 69 photographs (jpg) at 6 seconds each on the timeline (Top Video Track). Insert a Countdown loop (074_countdown_loop_04.wmv) at the start. Scrub the Timeline - all works as it should. Scrubs back and forth ok.
Now insert Random Transitions (2 seconds duration) between each photograph. (Save this before doing anything else!)
Now try scrubbing the Timeline - after a few seconds my computer hangs in VideoStudio X10 Ultimate; the cursor turns to crosshairs and does not respond. Task Manager is the only way forward to close VideoStudio.
Suggestions here do not help:

Any assistance greatfully accepted.
Thanks

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Hi John
Can you tell us where to get the 074_countdown_loop_04.wmv
I am sure I must be missing something but cannot find that file on my pc?
Post updated
I have now tried to replicate your workflow but cannot add random transitions at that point, I can only add random whilst adding images.
A few thoughts, that one of the transitions is causing the problem, obviously with so many to choose from it will be difficult to locate any individual transition.
If you add one transition type, do you still have the problem?

I thought 074_countdown_loop_04.wmv came as part of the VS "stuff". My mistake - sorry. It is too big to attach, but I think SP-V12.wmv is equivalent.
OK, I think I added the Random Transitions whilst adding the images, as you note. To try the timeline without transitions I then went into Storyboard view and deleted the transitions manually. Patience is not my middle name - grrrr!
Many thanks for trying to replicate. Again, I believe adding just one type of transition (eg Cross Fade) will give the same hang. Will investigate further.
Thanks

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Hi Trevor
Using CrossFade transition only does not seem to lead to VS hanging.
Same if the PNG image format is used, no hang.
But using the SP-V12.wmv as the intro clip then adding 69+ images JPG format (6 seconds) with Random Transitions (2 seconds) applied in Timeline view the hang occurs when trying to scrub the Timeline. Note: the unresponsiveness is not immediately apparent.
Thanks

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Thanks Asik1
This is getting strange because I can reproduce the crash with a number of trial projects I have created in both VS X9 & X10. These projects have all used the same JPGs with Random Transitions applied. On reading your post I revisited X10 and recreated a new project in X10 using the same JPGs with Random Transitions - no crash/hang. This the first of these trial projects not to hang.
Suspect lata is on to something wrt Random Transitions, there must one+ rogue transition(s) causing the hang. When the hang occurs the computer will not allow CNTRL + PrtScn to capture a screen shot.
Thanks

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Tried zipping a SmartPackage of a project that crashes but too big to attach.
The following should replicate the crash in either X9 or X10.
In Preferences increase the Default Photo Duration to 6 seconds, increase the Transition duration to 2 seconds and untick the Auto Apply Transition box. On the top video track pull down SP-V12.wmv, SP-121.jpg, SP-123.jpg, SP-109.jpg & SP-108.jpg. Change to Transitions and insert the following transitions: Flying Fold-3D, Folding Box-3D, Flip-Album & Flip-Album between the clip/images. Save the project.
In Timeline mode (view) try scrubbing back and forth on the Timeline, releasing the left mouse button a few times. VS should lockup/hang.
Thanks to anyone with the patience and enthusiasm to try and report back.

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Well if you choose the most cheesy trans you better give VS some time to cache , took few seconds here and once done no problem to scrub, it may halt but no crash. remember John this is sub $100 software.
I see this as a good feature to alert the user not to use carp transitions.

Play nice now asil1. It is all in the name of experimentation - but I know what you mean.
OK, so I'll try waiting to see what happens.
Thanks

Duplicated your setup - no problems, no hangs, no crashes.MrJohnny wrote:Tried zipping a SmartPackage of a project that crashes but too big to attach.

Re: X10 Ultimate SlideShow hangs
Hi guys
A quick update -
With the help and assistance of Corel Support I have now got X10 Ultimate to complete playing/rendering the Timeline when using the Flip/Flying transitions. Although the program response is not optimum, as it is very laggy, it allows an intermediate file to be rendered when using the offending transitions. This can then be re-imported into the Timeline.
This problem does not exist when I use my old Sony Vaio laptop to test X10 Ultimate, it plays/scrubs/renders without much lag or unresponsiveness when using the offending transitions - strange?
The "cure" from Corel Support (that I found to be patient/professional and helpful) was:
Set up a new Administrator User Account and re-install the Program from my original download link.
Thanks to all those who responded.
