Hi simmosimmo
Can you try using one of the preset templates from mpeg4 rather than using Same as Project option.
Try MPEG-4 AVC 4K (3840 x 2160, 25p, 40Mbps)
You can also try Same as First Clip?
I only mention as the data rate of your video is above that used by the presets having a limit of 65000kbps
Don’t think it should cause a problem and your files do render to 105600K,
I am in a similar boat with my Pana TZ70 files crashing, the guys cannot create the crash.
Even so not sure if it’s a VS issue or my PC given that X7 works ok for me. Could be different graphics manufacturer, and yes my drivers are upto date, being a new pc a few months old.

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Thanks again... i did try to render picking the 4k preset you mention and also to render out to a lower resolution because that is what i normally do. I only decided to film some scenes in 4k so i could zoom in a little if required. The lower resolutions caused the same crash. I haven't tried them all though. I'll try some more. My PC was rebuilt recently too so it was a fresh install of X9 and then I installed the updates.

Please try unticking all hardware acceleration in the Preferences, Performance tab. I suspect this may be the problem.

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi folks,
I've not had much luck with your suggestions I'm afraid... so i think my workaround will be to batch convert any 4k files I want to add a transition between with the below profile settings;
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 3840 x 2160, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 65000 Kbps, 16:9
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
That's the closest setting I can get to the original....it's the max frame rate i can set it to.
Interesting maybe is that once converted I can see a "length" value against the new clips in window's explorer. With the origional's I don't see any value.
I avoid adding transitions in the main so this workaround won't be such a problem until I can find a fix..
Thanks for your help.

Hi
Video Studio has the option from File- Save Trimmed Video
That will render the clip to a new video file using the same properties, save to the working folder placing a thumbnail in the library.
From there you can replace the timeline clip.
Maybe a quicker option than Batch, provided it works?

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Thanks Trevor... I've always missed that feature. It's even quicker...i've just use "save trimmed clip" on the 2nd clip and then reinserted it into my timeline and the project then renders ok.
cheers
