Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi Trevor, Downloaded the Flamingos clip and placed in timeline of X9 (I have not installed the latest update, even though it reminds me every time). I accepted the make project properties the same as video clip. I then used scissors to cut a piece of the front and rendered same as project and it worked perfectly. I then went back to Edit to the timeline just rendered and used scissors to cut it near the middle and inserted Crossfade transition there. It rendered again without any issues.
How do I do what you are doing when you see failure?
BTW that Flamingo clip is not 4K

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Trevor -- I realise you said in advance that those clips of yours were high def and not 4K. But I did exactly the same as Al -- though I strung all four clips in the timeline and added different transitions. And like Al, I had no trouble with rendering any of the variations I made.

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi Guys
Thanks for that
The first time the crash occurred was immediately after importing to the library.
I was interested in the duration of the MP4 so I simply selected a clip, then pressed navigation “End” button to view the digital clock, program crashed immediately.
Re launched X10 and had to re-import clips to library, but that’s normal after a crash.
Now I added the clips to the timeline, again the “End” crashed the program
From the timeline the clips show a green bar to the bottom, that clears when being played.
Program crashes when playing in project.
Crashes occurs straight away, however this morning things seemed better, no crashes.
I thought I would try X9, hit the pause play, before I could close the program it crashed.
I do not have to cut or trim, simply playing the clips crash the program, sure it crashes in both Project and Clip mode.
Thanks for that

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Trevor -- I've just opened X10 again and inserted your clips in the timeline (again). And still have no difficulty with any of them. I certainly don't see any green bar at the bottom in any of them, either at the start or during play. Nothing in VLC Player either. And I've tried all the other things you say crashes your VS, but the videos continue to play just fine in both Clip and continuous Project modes. No problem rendering either... And not one single crash or even hesitation in the program.lata wrote:From the timeline the clips show a green bar to the bottom, that clears when being played. Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Ken
Thanks for that, I am still having problems.
I don’t know if you noticed that the sample videos had different properties, the Flamingos are 1920 x 1080 whereas the others 1280 x 720, the later being recorded at 120fps with camera software saving to 25fps giving a slow mo playback.
I had thought the project properties could hold the clue trying various, but whatever I try I get crashes.
Sometimes immediately and then may take a while.
I have also played with preferences Acceleration settings.
Hmmmm strange……

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi Trevor
Tried all four clips in both X9 and X10.5 without any crashes or playback issues.
Accepted the invitation to set project properties same as clip, for both cases ie Flamingo and non Flamingo clips, same results, no crashes.
As Ken stated previously, do not see green bars either.
All hardware acceleration boxes ticked under Preferences.

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi, You can find my 4k sample project at :lata wrote: simmosimmo, as requested by Al , can you upload a few sample videos so we can test on our pc.
I am about to contact Corel regarding my crashes and will also point them to this post, but samples will be useful.
http://www.tediousweb.com/video/timtemp001.zip
As said before, as a a basic test... i drag one clip to a new project, choose to adopt the file properties as my new project setting...add the second clip and then add crossfade (or any really) transition between.
The project previews in VS fine with the transition included, i'm using proxy files.
I render using "same as project settings". VS crashes at the start of rendering out the transition.
Windows event viewer shows the error :

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi
Thanks for those samples
So far I have not had any problems using the files.
I am running X9 32 bit version, whether 64 bit version is different I don’t know.
I am sure the other guys will also test your files.
Strange that I am having problems with TZ 70 video?

Hi simmosimmo
Downloaded the files. Using X10.5, opened the VSP file, rendered "same as project" without problem.

Hi
Just investigated the faulting component: HVDService.dll
The file sizes are different as noted below:
X9 ...Corel VideoStudio X9\Common Files\MPEG File size 274 KB ; ... Corel VideoStudio X9 File size 274 KB
X10.5 ...Corel VideoStudio X10\Common Files\MPEG File size 274 KB ; ... Corel VideoStudio X10 File size 271 KB
Significance unknown.

I just played around with simmosimmo's clips and like MrJohnny and Trevor, I had no trouble rendering them to a new video using Same As Project Settings...

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
VS X9 does not crash with simmosimmo's project. I normally do not use proxy files, and was thinking maybe that's it, but no crash even with proxy files. We now have several other users that get no crashes, so it's hard to help you solve your problem. Perhaps you need to be more detailed in how you make it crash with the project you provided in the zip file. In particular: if you load the project you supplied in your X9, what do you do precisely that makes it fail? I loaded it, played each clip, played the project for a bit, then went to Share tab, selected render as project properties, and clicked start; this did not fail. If you do this, does it crash? If not, what is it as detailed as possible that makes it crash.

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Hi aljimenez,
I'm doing the following... loading project, share tab, select "same as project setting", "enable smart render" is deslected (although tried it with it selected too) and the clicked start. It always crashes at 40%. If I preview the rendering I can tell it's when the transition is occuring.
I can render without the transition fine and then re-enter the new clip into the timeline, chop it between the two scences, pick a transition and then render that project with no problems. Bizarre. :/

Re: VS9 crashes when rendering 4K and using transitions
Do you have other versions of VS installed (not that this should matter since I have other versions installed)? Are you able to re-install X9? If so, uninstall the X9 you have, and use the cleanup program for X9 that is listed in the sticky on the forum. I can't come up with any other ideas about your problem.
