NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Can anyone get the New Blue FX chromakey to work at all? It appears to be fine in the chromakey window with the background going black, suggesting it is transparent after keying out the green, but this is not reflected in the Preview Window where the green only goes to grey and it remains opaque on the timeline.
The Mask and Chroma Key option works much better but I am wondering if I have missed something.

Yes frank you missed something, you need to apply also the full white mask (from the masks) to your video

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
I certainly don't need to do that asik1 - works fine for me without any additional masks
I have found you cannot rely on the preset background colour supplied by default in the Chroma key settings panel - I have to use the little eye dropper in the top left corner to go down into the timeline and actually select the background colour of the overlay clip - then it seems to work OK

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi
Well I have the same issues as Frank
I have not used the New Blue Chroma Key but have tested the programs Chroma effects that seem to work ok
So yes I can confirm for me there is a problem using the New Blue Chroma.
I get a grey screen, certainly not transparent in any way, just grey.
Also annoying that I cannot copy and paste keyframe settings by right click, although keyboard copy and paste seems to work.
Brian is are your clips Images or video?

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
both images - I'll try with videos
OK - tried it again with two videos - spent ages on it and nothing I can do will make it work either
what do you mean asik by "you need to apply also the full white mask (from the masks) to your video" - which white mask - from where

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi Brian
I have tried with a variety of clips and all show chroma as grey, as I say not a bit transparent, its grey.
Maybe its our graphics card????
Oh I also tried acceleration settings via performance

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
If the overlay is a still image (video in top track) I can get it to work perfectly as I described above - but like others it will not work if the overlay is a video - just a grey background - we must all be missing something
and then my computer crashed !!!

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
guys, look in the masks selection for the one that is just full white frame, I think it's the 10'th.
(my selection is different as I tweaked it for my needs..)

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi Asik
Yes I realise that applying the full mask cures the problem with the New Blue Chroma key.
That option was/could also used when applying Picture in Picture
But if we go there we should also use the Chroma Key to remove the Background with no need to use New Blue.
Just strange that Brian can use New Blue without problems as his image shows.

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi guys
I get the same as BrianCee, if the overlay is a still image the NewBlue Chroma key works.
It also works if the overlay track contains a SWF file from the Flash Animation menu. I used FL-103.swf video track and FL-106.swf as O/L.
But does not work if the O/L track is video.

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi John
SWF files already have a transparent background, so you would not need Chroma.
There is a problem with this filter seemingly affecting users in different ways,
For me any image of video, ignoring Swf of course gives the grey background.

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi lata (Trevor)
Great tip - I had not known about the transparent background if SWF file put in O/L track!!
Thanks for alerting Corel.
Do not know why anyone would do it but, if you apply the NB Chroma key to the red heart (FL-106) in an O/L track, the heart disappears ie the Chroma key works as I assume it is intended.
Thanks
John

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
John, it works only because the transparency in the swf file.
The full white mask is exactly for the regular videos. this is how VS work for the last 10 years.
that mask is also useful in crop FX.

Re: NewBlue Chromakey FX - can't get it to work
Hi Guys,
I am working on a chroma project and reviewing what VS 10x has to offer. I have experianced the exact same problem as you with NewBlue Chromakey FX and was wondering if this issue was addressed in VS 2018. Latta, did Corel get back to you regarding this issue?
