Is there any way to stop the 'magnetic' behaviour of clips on the main track? On the overlay tracks, I can move a clip and have a space between it and its neighbours, but when I try this on the main video track, all the spaces automatically are deleted as the clips move to occupy the vacant areas.
This is not the same as ripple editing and it occurs with ripple editing disabled.
Final Cut on the Mac has a function it calls 'magnetic' something-or-other but it can be turned on and off.
Can this be done in VSX10?
TIA
Frank

Re: Moving clips on main video track
In a word, no. What you describe is exactly the way VS was designed to work: no spaces in the top/main timeline but possible in overlay tracks.
But if you really don't like that simply don't use the main timeline and put all your videos etc in overlay tracks.
