Unspecified error

Post by Rollason »

When attempting to burn a DVD I get the warning 'Unspecified error' and a triangle in yellow with an exclamation mark and this number [5:0:0]. The video has gone through the rendering process so far and has cleared a detailed progress of 99%. However rendering only appears to have totalled 33%.
I then get the error notice and the total progress drops back to 3% and the 'Unspecified error' notice comes up. I have attempted burning this video a number of times with the same result. I am using MPG4 and ticking the DVD symbol at the start of the process as previously advised. Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Rollason

You may be best to alter your workflow in burning a disc.

First a Standard DVD requires Mpeg2 video files.

Convert your project to a Mpeg2 file….how
From your project choose Share – select the Mpeg2 option, choose the MPEG-2 (720 x 576, 16:9, 25p, 8Mbps) option assuming your video is 16:9 widescreen.

Render your project to those settings.
Play the resultant Mpeg2 to check quality
If ok start a new project.
From the new project do not add any video, go to Share create disc DVD
The burner module opens. Top left icon to add Video Files, browse for the new Mpeg2 file created above.

Create any menus you require.
From the final page choose to Create a Disc Image
Deselect Create to Disc
This will complete the burn process creating an ISO file saved to your hard drive, it is a copy of the disc.
We can play that ISO using VLC Player to check quality
Finally we burn the ISO to disc using Tools – Burn from disc Image ISO

Many thanks for that, Iata. I'm transferring to DVD some taped video on a rather old tape camcorder. It's proving interesting!!!
I'll certainly attempt what you have advised and, hopefully, have some success. Regards, Roy Rollason
