When I try to open a *.SVG file, PSP X9 asks me the dimensions (always square, no matter what the SVG actually is!) and then opens the file showing me a white background and a fully filled black silhouet of the image that I hoped to see.
In all the marketing blabla, Corel claims that X9 CAN open SVG files. Well, technically they're right. But the result is useless.
Does anyone have a solution? Also: does anyone know a good program to convert transparent PNG's to SVG again?

PNGs are raster images, SVG are vector images. The only way to convert a PNG to an SVG is to use a vector tracer. This is a program that attempts to recreate a raster image by tracing it with vectors. Sometimes the result is passable, other times not so much. Inkscape has a built in vector tracer and is a free SVG editor.
PSP only supports converting the SVG to a raster and not always all features of SVG as it uses an external program to do the conversion. Not much I can recommend on how to deal with that beyond opening the SVG in another program and converting to a raster from there.

LeviFiction is right about converting a PNG to SVG -- you need a program that will "trace" the raster image into vector shapes. In addition to Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw and PhotoLine have built-in tracing functions to do that.CodeALot wrote:Does anyone have a solution? For your initial question about opening SVG images, Inkscape, AI, CDR, and PL will open the SVG as an editable vector image. Of course, if you then want to convert the SVG to a raster image (such as PNG), those programs will also do that quite simply and easily. I use PhotoLine as my image editor of choice, and its SVG importing is very good.
