No longer recognizing DV camera

When I bought my firewire card it came with vidostudio 5.0, first couple of days it worked fine, but now nothing happends when I plug my DV cam and turn it on. Anyone know the prob?

Is the camcorder in Playback mode? Do you hear the Windows Plug-and-Play device recognition sound?

When that happened to me recently I found that the PCB (Motherboard) in the DVCam had been blown - AUS$1500 to replace !!! I have a panasonic 3ccd dvcam.

I have the same problem when I connect my can we can hear the sound of material connection of windows but when I open Ulead VideoStudio 7 I can't chose the source of the capture and it tell me that there is no cam pluged... Is anybody know the source of the problem and how to correct it?

You may be using the wrong capture plugin. In most cases, you will want to use the DirectShow capture plugin. There are some Sony camcorders that require the use of the MicroMV capture plugin.

I would not use the MPEG capture plugin, few computers will be able to do the transcoding in realtime.
