Problems After Burning and SVCD

Post by moonlove73 »

Hello,

Here is my problem, When I am making an SVCD during the preview and when I save my work as a mp3 the homemade movies I made look GREAT But when I burn them as an SVCD my problems begin. I am using Ulead Video Studio 9.0 and I just can not figure this one out. I use my Web Cam to make Cute movies for my children/neices/nephews for there birthdays and I just started using videostudio and the quality of the SVCD is HORRIBLE. The main problem is with the Movie part, the Picture part always comes out GREAT but when it starts to play the movie files it pauses and and then you can hear the audio but the video goes really slow so it is not matching/going in sync. Any help would be So Very Appreciated. Also I am using Windows 2000 with the VideoStudio 9 if that helps any.

capture using webcam

Post by bryave »

Try disabling memory resident programs before you capture such as antispyware, antivirus, etc. Unplug USB devices such as bluetooth, USB drive, and other USB devices before capturing. This is to ensure a neat capture. Try updating also your webcam's driver, update to latest version of DirectX, and necessary updates from microsoft. On VideoStudio, try changing resolution, bit rate, and other options that you feel has a good output. Since you're capturing from webcam, I believe its output format is for the web that really has a low quality output for it to be easily be streamed through the net. Try changing settings in your capture tab for experimenting with your capture using a webcam to have a good output. ^_^

Thank you Do you have any suggestion on what I should change the settings too? When I record the Videos from my web cam they look ok, and in the video studio preview they look ok, it is just when I burn the svcd that I start to have problems. when i save my work it looks ok, but for some reason when i burn the svcd I get the problem with the video's slowing down and pausing kind of like satalite tv, and then the audio will keep playing but the video is on slow motion. Like i said the picture part looks great, it is just the video part if you have any suggestions on what i can change my setting to i would be very appreciative. I have already updated all my programs like you said and still having the burning problem, right now all my settings in videostudio are still the default settings. Thanks again.

bitrate

Try adjusting your video bitrate. In the Project Properties window click Edit then choose compression. Choose Constant in Video data rate and set it higher than the default value. Also, try updating your burning engine, try downloading the updated patch at Ulead's website. Try this link: http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs.htm ^_^

Hi

I used to make Svcd discs a long time back and seem to remember having a similar problem.
Turned out to be the bit-rate being Constant or Variable.
I cannot remember which one cured the playback problem but I must have changed to ‘Constant’ as Variable is selected by default.

You may have to use the ‘Make Movie Manager’ from tools to make a new template.
You will be able to select the new template from Share—Create Video File

Hope this helps

Ps just noticed that 'bryave' also suggests Constant

Also check what resolution and file type your web cam can capture. You might be converting too many times for disc. For instance, if you are capturing 352x240 mpeg-1, then create your svcd -- you will have changed to mpeg-2 and the resolution would go to 480x480 (for ntsc).

Try to capture equal (or higher) than your final output format (to avoid up-converting).

An alternative would be to create VCD (using mpeg-1).

If your movies aren't too long (under 20 minutes), and your webcam can capture mpeg2 at higher resolutions, then you might want to create miniDVD's -- DVD Format on CD-R discs...
