Go back to your timeline and tell us what appears first/show screen shot. There's something there that is greying that option out.

Are you using images to create a slideshow? That's the only way I can find that causes the First video clip option to not be available. As long as there's a video file in the timeline, that option should be available. Since images are not video, well that option would not apply.

If the first video clip has something not supported by the built-in output codecs, that option will be grayed out. For example, non-standard resolutions, non-standard frame rates, etc.

If the first video is an MKV, then Video Studio cannot output in that format. I can accept it as input and edit it, but cannot output it. So that could be another explanation.

also i have two another issues.
1)my main problem with VSX10 is posted to this link : http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61448
so if anyone can help me with it essentially, i would appreciate
2)when i insert an mP4 file in timeline appears with an audio symbol (like the attachment).but when inserting an MKV file there is no such symbol.is that normal?or when inserting MKV file the export file it does not contain sound?
