NIK collection - how to install?
I rarely use plugins so i might be completely off here, but i am trying to install the NIK collection but i am having problems, so maybe someone can help me out.
1- i downloaded the .exe file
2- double click on the .exe file and start the installation process
3- it states that the filters will be placed in the Google folder
4- then it asks about the host. I do have Photoshop installed, so it suggests to install it there, but i want it installed on my PSPX9 (i can't choose NO host, to leave it in the Google folder) so i navigated to the PSPX9 plugin folder, thinking i can probably just move the files later if needed
5- once the installation is complete, i open X9, and find no NIK filter. I tried the 32 bit and the 64 bit, and it is not there. I do see the Google folder that was created in the Plugin/EN folder, but nothing shows up. I checked the File Location and the Plugin/EN is there, with the Sub-folder checked. To make sure, i even added the Google sub-folder itself.
Am i missing one step?

Re: NIK collection - how to install?
When I installed Nik, I let it install to PS since I have an old version and then I went into PSPX9 File ->Preferences -> File Locations -> Plugins and pointed it to C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection.

Re: NIK collection - how to install?
I found the folder also in my Photoshop installation (i had tried before also), but even pointing PSP to that folder, i don't see them appear in my plugins.
I must be missing something.

Re: NIK collection - how to install?
I just installed the Google Nik Collection. I don't have Photoshop on my desktop so it installed in
C:\Program Files\Google\
I then went into PSP X9 and in File Locations directed the plugins to C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection
I ran the 32 bit version of X9 and the plugins showed Nik Collection and that included all the effects
Analog Efex Pro 2
Color Efex Pro 4
etc
And it works in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of X9 however you have to edit the File locations for each version.

Do you also have it in the location I mentioned above ? C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection If so, what happens when pointing PSP to that location?Cassel wrote:I found the folder also in my Photoshop installation (i had tried before also), but even pointing PSP to that folder, i don't see them appear in my plugins.

Re: NIK collection - how to install?
Ah, it works when i point it to that Google folder, but only the one in Program files but not to the folders in Photoshop or Paintshop .
Strange, but it now works.
Thanks!

Yup same here. Simply point PSP to the Google/NIK Collection.

Re: NIK collection - how to install?
Has anyone been able to get the collection to work on Windows XP? I installed it and had no trouble getting it to show up in the Plugins list in PSP8. However, when I try to run them, I get an error message telling me that some files are missing. I have loads of plugins installed so I've got all the usual necessary files on my computer. Are there new ones for more recent versions of Windows perhaps? I have other NIK plugins installed and they work fine just not the new free collection.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16
