Well I call them markers but the manual seems to enjoy calling them Cue & Chapter points (unless I'm reading the wrong pages ~pg58)
I'm not having any issues of how to drop or remove them, but for the sake of making them easier to use with involved & intricate projects... is there any way to add different color markers simultaneously in the main timeline (or anywhere else for that matter) ... as the project I'm currently working on, I'm seriously going bonkers with over 60 markers being only green & if I had an option for adding markers with a different color to differentiate visually Vs. only being GREEN, it would seriously help me finish this one...
Long time ago I could have sworn I saw a video where someone dropping Blue & green markers on the timeline but for some reason I can't find that particular video... But I also think the Video was for when I was still running on VS6x..

Hi
The Chapter and Cue markers are Green and Blue respectively. They cannot be changed.
But you can name the markers via Settings Chapter / Cue point managers, then you could use the Go To option, don’t know if that will help you.
You can add your own colour clips to say one of the overlay tracks that may double as markers, any colour can be used.
View the Graphics Library (flower icon) to find the Color library pages.
You could also create a Text box, adding a description to the Title track.
What are you trying to do that needs so many markers?
Take care when using Chapter Points as they will be inserted to the disc should you try to burn a disc that is?

Trevor, because VS do not have simple clever editing tools, one needs to work with what there is.
This VSP holds ~50 markers in the first minute.

Re: VS9x - Markers ...Any color options?
I guess that's sorta the question...
So next question: If I were to use Blue chapter markers, would I be able to simply omit those (chapter) points when I am ready for final render? ...If so, I'd at least be able to use 2 different colors.
(PS: How do I actually insert a (blue) point anyway, when I try the way outlined, it's still dropping a green marker)
So if I could at least use to different colors it would make it so much easier to keep my place.
And yes before this thing I was color coding... Until I ran out of Video lanes...
And one other question: Are there keyboard shortcuts to insert markers and/or chapter markers on the fly without stopping playback?
The project is a 6 min music video. and I have quite a few extremely intricate effect parts that are very quick multiple transitions of multiple static picture fidly-bits that happen about a dozen times in the project. And while I have the main process down for one particular instance (see ~3:08). But once I copy & paste it to the other measures the timings are a way 'off' and then have to fudge each static image so that they transition accordingly 'ON THE BEAT'...
This is a very rough edit... and the part that is throwing me fits is just around the 3:09 mark... and you should see what I mean when I say I want the transitions to happen on the BEAT...

Re: VS9x - Markers ...Any color options?
This is my point exactly... While I haven't counted the green makers, I'm well over 50 markers in under 1:00 length right now...asik1 wrote:Trevor, because VS do not have simple clever editing tools, one needs to work with what there is. This VSP holds ~50 markers in the first minute.
The video, while this has 3 camera positions... I am now on 7 positions
Like I said if I had (at least) 2 different color markers it would absolutely speed up editing & weeding out the things you can toss...

Hi
Chapter Points re Cue markers
To the left of the chapter point thin timeline is a +/- symbol, down arrow accesses Cue / Chapters.
Unfortunately, we cannot view both markers at the same time, so not able to view two colours
Right click the cue/chapter point timeline for Remove all markers.
I guess we are identifying the limitations of these markers.

Re: VSx9 - Markers ...Any color options?
Ah... ok, so I can swap between green (cue) markers & blue (chapters) markers though
If you can, then how... seems no matter how I set from drop down all I can drop & see, wind up green...
Sorry if this is maybe seeing noob-ish... cripes... I been using CV since v4 & sometime the simplest things seriously elude me...
EDIT: HA! ... I see now you can switch between the markers now.
I seriously really wish VSx's GUI was scaleable...
