Surely VideoStudio X9 does not require that I must split a video clip, trim the end of the first part, trim the beginning of the second part, and then concatenate the two parts in order to remove a section of from the middle. That would make the program really lame.
Is there a way to remove a section of a video from the middle, without using archaic methods? The manual offers no help, neither does the "Discovery Center."
No way to simply cut out a section of video?

Split the video at the beginning of the segment you want to remove. Then create another split at the end of the segment you want to remove.
You now have 3 segments: delete the middle one.

Re: No way to simply cut out a section of video?
Hi
How would you envisage removing frames from the middle of a clip?
I can see the need to select a section probably using the mouse, then hit delete, providing we select the frames correctly that should work, unfortunately the program does not do that.
But like Canuck
Split the video at the beginning of the segment you want to remove. First section done, Then place curser on second clip where you want to remove additional frames, press F3 or Mark-in Square Brackets to remove frames, job done.
Upps---removed to many frames, set curser and press Mark-in Mark-out to recover frames.

Re: No way to simply cut out a section of video?
I very very rarely use the square brackets or F3/F4 as that just seems a lot of extra work - I just move the timeline cursor to the point where I want to cut and click on the scissor tool - cut made - job done
so to accomplish Djard007's task - I would do like canuck - move the timeline cursor to the position where you want to start the removal - click scissors - move the timeline cursor to where the removal is to end - click scissors - delete centre section of video

Re: No way to simply cut out a section of video?
Hi Brian
No I am saying that using the F3 / F4 Markin Markout options removes frames from the ends of my clips.
To remove frames from the middle I Split / cut the video using the scissors, then treat as though removing end frames. from each clip.
Many ways to do it, I prefer using the square brackets rather than dragging the clips trim handles.

Re: No way to simply cut out a section of video?
no for me using the square brackets is totally confusing - I see no need to use them at all - they don't cut so what good are they
why do you drag the trim handles - just move the timeline cursor and cut with the scissors - for both cuts - simple and straight forward

Hi
I did not say I dragged the trim handles?
I said "I prefer using the square brackets rather than dragging the clips trim handles."
There are many ways on a pc to perform the same effect, I prefer my method, you have your own method, I do not see a problem with that!
