No sound after Youtube and FB uploads

Post by tryingcake »

I know this answer is here somewhere. But my search efforts keep ignoring the word "sound," even when using advanced search. That word is kind of important.

OK - my issue:

I'm using Corel Videostudio x9 (Ultimate). My videos seem to be rendering just fine. I can play them back on my laptop without an issue. When I upload to FB or YT, no sound at all. I have tried both uploading directly from my computer and from using the software's upload function. I get the exact same result either way.

Here's the weird thing. I just purchsed the program a few days ago. The first video clip I uploaded to FB worked perfectly. It was an old VHS home movie I had transferred to my laptop. Video/Sound: all there. I didn't mess with it for a cousuccessfully uploaded the first time (just to see what would happen) and, you got - no sound.

Any ideas at all?

Ah - OK - I figured it out on my own... sort of. I'm not going to delete the question in case anyone else has the same issue.

After posting I got the "bright" idea to check other browsers (duh). The problem is Google Chrome. Not my settings on VideoStudio. I can hear the sound in Bing, Edge, and even Chrome Canary. So there you have it. I haven't been able to make Google Chrome work yet. But I can confidently tell you it's not a software issue.

Thank so much!

Hi

Thanks for the update on that, if you do find the Chrome reason maybe you can update this post, could be useful for others with similar problems.
Wonder if its the audio codec / format?

OK - I have sound on Chrome now. Removing and reinstalling Chrome worked for me. None of the other steps did.

This is the page that gave me a list of things to try. There are a lot of options. Obviously, the user just needs to start at the top and work his way down. It was a fairly fast process though.

In the future if you have a chrome sound issue you can try to clear the cache and cookies first, try icognito mode, or disable all your themes before reinstalling chrome altogether.

Glad you got it resolved though.

As I already stated, I tried all of those things. Yo must not have viewed the list I attached. The first thing on the list that worked was removing and reinstalling. I started at the top of the list and worked my way down. The things you mentioned were the first suggestions. DID NOT WORK. The user has to start at the top of the list and figure out which the problem is one method at a time. Thanks!!
