Multi Camera editing issue with X9 ultimate
Hi all. Long time Corel Videostudio user. Lately I have been getting into the multi camera editing on X9. I have been using three GoPro's in my tractor while snow clearing and uploaded the footage to my notebook on to D9 then up to YouTube. Doing the multi camera editing is easy but what I have had happen on a number of occasions is half way or even 90% through the project during the multi camera editing I get a message says it's shutting down and does exactly that. It's very annoying and multi camera is very time consuming as you know so now I'm not trusting it. I now have X10 ultimate but haven't tried the multi camera editing there yet.
Any ideas what the problem could be? One good thing is that when it do shut down it automatically saves some of the work I have already done. Not all of it but some of it.
Thanks.
Paul

Welcome,
- notebook isn't the greatest tool for complex NLE work.
- you should use proxy files.
- you should set your auto save to 1 min.
- I don't know if X10 is any better in that feature.

Thank you very much. I agree with you on the proxy files. I'll try that the next time. For the life of me and can't see where to change the auto save settings. Would you know? Really appreciate your help.asik1 wrote:Welcome,

I know many things, but I think it's better for you to explore the software and read the PDF.

Re: Multi Camera editing issue with X9 ultimate
There's one thing I do and that is I read manuals. I just spent an hour looking through the PDF files including the search files and I didn't see a thing on how to change the save time intervals. It just states it automatically saves the project every ten minutes.asik1 wrote:I know many things, but I think it's better for you to explore the software and read the PDF.

Hi 4shorts
Hopefully X10 will cope with your GoPro video and not crash.
If MCE is crashing then I would assume the main program will also have problems, hopefully not.
Managing your project properties may help with those crashes.
1 / When I used MCE I first set my project properties from the edit tab to match my video files, easily done by inserting one of my videos to the timeline, say ok to message to set properties.
2 / Clear the timeline
3 / Shift + Click to select my video in library
4 / Right click selection for MCE, should open with video clips in order.
The MCE timeline uses the frame rate of the first video file.
5 / Once complete a VSP is placed in the library
6 / We can open that in MCE to continue editing. (double click the vsp)
7 / Or open in main timeline, drag to timeline to complete the project.
8 / The project being set to video as in 1 above.
As for Auto Save, I am not sure how that affects the MCE VSP, and wonder if it only saves the main project, difficult to understand how it would work for MCE
and without forcing a crash in MCE cannot test that feature?

Re: Multi Camera editing issue with X9 ultimate
Thanks Trevor. I've been using Corel Video Studio since X7 right up to X10 Ultimate and the only time I've used MCE which was on X9 & X10 they both crashed frequently but only while using the multi cam editing feature. I've watched pretty well every video on the subject and I'm doing it exactly the way everyone else is so I'm at a loss on this.lata wrote:Hi 4shorts

When this program crashes it puts me well behind in my work. I appreciate your help but I'm to the point where I'm going to have to look at a differant program.
Yesterday X10 crashed again. Not reliable enough or stable enough for my needs at this point.

Hi
I do not know how large your video files are but if you can upload a sample/s to a sharing site, Microsoft One Drive, DropBox or Google Drive etc. we can try using on our pc’s to see if we can replicate the problem..
By the way have you reported the crashes to Corel Support
