DV capture failure

Post by Bimbing »

I posted a message last week asking for help because DV footage that I saved as .AVI files and Split by Scene could not be inserted in the Video Library. Although each file when clicked did play in MS Media Player. When trying to insert in Video Lirary, the error stated that the "file contains no video data". While this problem has not been solved another problem arises:
Now the same raw footage when tried to be captured as DV (.avi) files and Split by Scene, could not be saved at all. The message said "capture failure. File is corrupted and is useless. It will be automatically deleted." I set the system as recommended for File Capture in this VideoStudio Support FormForum: PLEASE READ RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE FOR USING VIDEO STUDIO".
Please advise why I could not get the DV footage saved. Thanks

From what source was your DV footage? Have you tried updating its firmware? ^_^

what version of VideoStudio do you have?

What are your computer specs?

Are you capturing DV Type-1 or DV Type-2 files (or other) :?:

There may be a problem with the codecs on your system, and the Microsoft DV codec in particular -- did you try to install any of the "codec packs" that are floating around the Internet?

Try installing Sherlock 2.0 and have it check the codecs on your PC to see if there is a registration problem. The Microsoft DV codec that comes with Windows should be located in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory, its name is QDV.DLL. If it is not registered correctly, you can execute REGSVR32 QDV.DLL from a command prompt or Start -> Run to re-register it.

The file qdv.dll is listed in the \windows\system32 folder.
When I tried to run REGSVR32 QDV.DLL from a command prompt , I got an error saying that regsvr32 is not an internal, external, operational program or batch file.

Will try to run the Sherlock program
Thanks
