Chroma key x 2

Post by CADA »

I'm confused by what looks like double functions in vsx10

Eg chroma key can be applied as an fx or on in the options panel

Cropping & rotation are the same.

Why 2 of the same?

They're not the same. For example, one of the Chroma-Key is Corel's the other is New Blue FX. If you'll notice the Corel version of Chroma Key, the clip must be in an overlay track, while the New Blue version can be applied to clips in the Main Video Track, and you can Keyframe using it. I don't know why someone would want to keyframe chroma key. How about the Customize Motion? You can do several neat things using it, not Chroma Key, but resizing, rotation, borders, mirror, fades.

One reason to keyframe chromakey is to move from full colour to B&W for effect.
And IMHO, the VSX10 chromakey effect is very poor. What is shown in the effect window is not reflected in the preview panel and the controls are clumsy.
I could not get it to work and the best background I could get, admittedly with two shades of green, was a dull and uninteresting grey.
