Rendering Problems

Post by JSigman780 »

I have been trying VideoStudio X10 and various other video editing software through free trials and I had really high hopes because I had owned a previous version of videostudio and was very please with it.

I was trying some simple video creation 1 video, a title line and an image with a few effects peppered in, so nothing special and I am continually getting unreadable frame errors. I thought it was the software that I was attempting to use to records so I recorded the video 7 times using different software. The only capture I couldn't use was the built in capture for video studio because it wouldn't recognize my camera. I tried to use various screen capture programs as well and was able to get working videos each time but again each time I would go to render the video and bam such and such a frame, normally 0 is unreadable and it would just stop. Since I am considering purchasing the full version of whatever I manage to finally get I am pretty disappointed with my experience so far. I am hoping this is a simple fix and it is a setting or interaction I am not aware of that I can move on and work a few projects with. Please someone help me with this if it is even possible to be helped. Thank You!!

Welcome to the forum -- and sorry for the problems you seem to be having.

One important thing you didn't tell us, though, was what sort of camera you are trying to capture from (brand/model). It would also help to know exactly how you are trying to capture from it: e.g. via USB cables, or a capture device, or Firewire.

Unfortunately, also, Corel in their wisdom (NOT!!) have severely crippled their trial versions since X8 onwards, essentially cutting out anything, including codecs, for which they have to pay licence fees to third parties. We have told them repeatedly that they are shooting themselves in the foot, but so far the bean counters have won out... But in this regard knowing what format your video has in the camera and what you are wanting to render it to becomes important.

Oh yes sorry about that. I am using a Logitech C920 via USB hookups. The have tried to capture the video in various formats, I think I tried 6 so far as well but I honestly can't remember program to format what I have tried. As far as what it is trying to become I have also tried all of the formats available to me, WMV, AVI, MP4 and the things to be included is the source, a graphic, and some text with a few transitions. The graphic and text don't start at frame 1 and only jump in about a minute and a half into the video. Thank You for your time again.

Well your Logitech gets good reviews, but am I right in guessing you are trying to record streaming video with it (which is its major purpose) i.e. having the camera filming something and recording it on your computer as it films? If so I suspect you should be using Logitech's Webcam Software for Windows which either came with the camera or is available on the Logitech website. Having filmed what you want and captured it with that software, you then open the captured video in Video Studio for editing.
