Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
"An unhandled win32 exception occurred in vstudio.exe [1176]"
"Unhandled exception at 0x0000000007759768 (ulmp4lib.dll) in vstudio.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000333BF000."
These are the error messages I get whenever I go into the debugger whenever VideoStudio Ultimate x9 crashes. I do not know why this happens, but it happens whenever I leave the project playing in the editor for too long.
I know it doesn't "Stop working" at a certain point in the project, it will "Stop working" at different points in the project each time.
It won't crash if I play a rendered video from a thumbnail, it will only crash when playing a Project.
It also won't crash if I play a clip from the project, only when playing the Project as a whole.
And the Project in question is only 1 video clip right now, so it's not because one clip is corrupt or something.
I haven't seen anyone else have this problem with Video Studio Ultimate x9 yet. All of the other articles I can find are from people using Video Studio x4.
I also haven't changed any settings or installed any new programs on my computer since it worked last. (Which was Yesterday)
It is just suddenly not working this morning.
I hope I gave enough information that a solution can be found.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
Hi
I assume you are running the fully patched X9
Can you tell us what type of video files you are working with?
The ulmp4lib.dll has been a source of several problems in the past. Usually associated with Mov and MP4 type, Corel providing hot fixes as a replacement file, then we assume added the fix to the latest service pack.
The attached is one file that I have associated with a fix for 4K video, I cannot guarantee that this will cure your issue , but worth a try.
Replace the existing file ulmp4lib.dll with the attached file.
Please re-name the original to ulmp4lib_copy.dll, then paste the new file to the same location.
If things get worse, revert back to original file.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9
Please contact Corel Support and report this problem.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
Very hard problem, to help you best need details of video file and project formats: resolution, bitrates, frames per second, type (mp4, mov, avi, etc). Eventually sharing a small project using Smart Package may be needed if you can't figure the issue.
Some ideas: try to reproduce reliably, try another video file, change project settings, try proxy files.
May need to uninstall, clean installation, re-install.

When I used the file it didn't fix it, and the problem remained the same, the only difference is that it crashes automatically and says: " The instruction at 0x000000000779A2DB referenced memory at 0x00000000238C6000. The memory could not be read."
I will be reverting back to the old ulmp4lib.dll.

Hi
Well I guess it was worth a try.
Can you make sure your project properties match your video files properties.
As Al asks, a Smart Package of your project may help as we can try your files on our pc,s
Maybe we can replicate the problem.
You would have to upload to a sharing site, Google drive, Dropbox etc.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
I don't think it's related but that bit rate is terribly low for 720, and so the quality.
I export 90+min 720 at 2Mb as the bottom of the barrel quality.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
Don't go back to the original dll file since you now have a reproducible failure. See my other ideas; one namely, try another video file to see if it also fails this may point to the current video file as the culprit. For sure that bitrate means very poor quality video as asik says, but the program should not fail like you are experiencing. What are your Project settings?

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
I get exactly the same problem with X10 @SP1 playing back MP4 files (1920 x 1080 24fps) captured on a Panasonic GH4.
Last month after logging a fault with Corel, a support chap connected remotely to my PC, saw the crash and fiddled with the proxy settings. That seemed to fix it for the short sample videos I'd been testing, but now I'm back from holiday with longer clips the problem is back.
Usually it crashes about 8 seconds before a transition, but not always.
The Event log entry is:

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
another error for the archive.
I'm just setting up my new system , and installing X9, and SP2
So far so good,
But I did recall that a new ulmp4lib.dll was issued few months ago
So I replaced it.
But now X9 wont run , it crashes with this error

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
I'm on X10 - none of the earlier ulmp4lib.dll's out there work for me either.
My crashes seem to be much worse if I have transitions (I use crossfade by default) between clips - it invariably crashes about 6 seconds before a transition. With no transitions I can (usually) Edit and Share a project.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate x9 Error -
Hi Kempshott
None of the hot fixes were intended for CVSX10, I doubt they will help, and maybe make things worse.
I suggest you revert to the original file.
Can you start a new topic regarding the crashes you are experiencing, describe your video files, their properties may help, and what you are doing when the crashes occur.
That way this post will remain for the X9 errors.

Well I would start a new thread but -in desperation I've just changed my video card from an nVidia GT 730 to a Radeon RX 460 and everything works perfectly now.

Hi,
I have the same issue and have tried the hotfix (VS.ZIP) aswell, it does not work, it crasch when i add an transition. What i found out was that if i rename the MP4 file to .MOV everything works fine. When i try the new x10 version the .MP4 files work fine. It is clearly an issue with the ulmp4lib.dll in x9. I work with Panasonic GH5 and there 8 bit FHD format. see below
