Capture freeze

Post by Rollason »

When capturing a video in the programme it freezes. Using Task Manager does nothing to cancel the programme. Should I reinstall the programme or is there some other way round this? Rolly.

Well first of all we would need to know what format video you are trying to capture, from what and what capture device or cables you are using...

I am attempting to use a tape video camera, a Panasonic NVS 88, using a Climax Digital Converter into a USB socket. I am using MPEG2 as the format.

Did the Climax come with its own software? I ask since it is quite common for capture devices like that to be tweaked to only work with their own software. In other words, you capture with that software and then open the captured video in VS for editing.

(For other users the Panasonic NV S88 is a Super VHS camcorder which is about 20 years old.)

Hi

I found this info regarding ClimaxDigital
http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/WebRoot/ ... ap123.html

The device does seem to provide ArcSoft Showbiz 3.5 software.
Interestingly also refers to Ezcap, I do have that capture device which did work with both ArcSoft and Video Studio.

There are also links to download the capture drivers????
So have you installed the correct drivers for your device.

I have to admit I have not used my device for a long time and not sure if its Windows 10 compatible, think I need to run a test?

Thank you for that information which has proved useful but has presented the problem of being unable to connect to the camcorder and download the video. I don't know if this is connected to the freezing problem but the information below may be of some help.
Some items that might be of interest:

The camcorder I am using does not show as being removable storage in the devices box of 'C'
The 'Source' is USB 2. Vid. Box. FW
The capture folder is C\User\Users\docs\Corel video studio Pro\19.0
The dialogue box that comes up on attempting to capture states:

Failed to initialise the video capture plug in. Another programme may be using it or the file has been moved.
Open driver failed.
Cannot create the video capture filter.

I have opened the web address that Iata gave me, ie. http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/WebRoot/ ... ap123.html and have downloaded the items stated. Except that referring to Skype which I don't feel I need. I think that this may have cured the 'Freezing' problem as the programme opened up OK when I went to 'Capture' this time. Rolly
