Boris BCC Titler not working with Intel GPU

Post by robspa48 »

This post is intended to inform Forum members that BCC Titler coming with VS X10 Ultimate doesn't work with Intel Graphics Cards, even with the most recent updated Drivers. After multiple contacts with Boris support team about the problems I experienced, they ultimately came up with the following statement: "Title Studio is only supported on Graphics Cards of NVidia and AMD/ATI models".
On the other hand everything else is working fine, including Boris Graffiti and New Blue FX Titler.
In the attached picture this is what I get when applying BCC Titler to a clip.
I think that Corel should have pointed this issue out when advertising for VS X10.

That's very strange, both your problem and the Boris response. My video computer is not a strong one, but works well for me. It has an on-board graphics Intel 4400 card and a secondary NVidia card -- but the Intel is the default. And Boris Title Studio works quite well with it -- a little bit slow, but that's what I expect with high-end Boris and a low-end computer. Graffiti also works well.

Curiously enough, it is NB Titler which used to give me problems, telling me the on-board graphics were insufficient to run it, though with X10 that also seems not to be a problem any longer. That problem came with X8. Titler worked with the NVidia card.

See photo below which is a screen image created with BCC Titler on this computer... I just ran a quick project to produce it and made sure that I selected the Intel card when I opened X10 and ran it. (Win 10 gives you the choice when you have a dual card system.)

By the way, did you try opening BCC in full mode? To do so go to Window > Switch to Advanced UI.

Thanks Ken, actually we do have a similar GPU (mine is Intel HD Graphics 4000), so it's really surprising the answer I got from Boris support ("I've looked into this and unfortunately, this is likely due to the Graphics Card itself; Title Studio is only supported on Graphics Cards of NVidia and AMD/ATI models -
https://borisfx.com/support/supported-graphics-cards/
I will check with Engineering to see if we can maybe extend Title Studio functionality to work on the Intel GPU, but I would have no ETA as to when, or even if, this could be implemented".
Your answer let me hope something can still be tried before giving up...Could you please be more detailed on how should I switch Windows 7 to Advanced UI (step by step, please)? Thanks

I've never been able to use NewBlue Titler EX. The final answer was : « Titler Ex will not work with an Intel HD video card. It is simply not powerful enough. However, all of the effects will work fine because they all work using the CPU in Corel. ».

See attachments.

Curious behavior: New Blue Titler works perfectly after I manually updated the GPU driver for my Intel HD Graphics 4000 to 15.33.43.4425 (initial Graphics driver was Intel 9.17.10.2828 and NBT did'nt work).

That's probably what happened to get NB Titler to work in X10 -- a driver upgrade.

But as for BCC Titler in Advanced Mode, if you look at the image you posted above, then along the top of the first BCC screen there are four drop-down menus (Fichier etc). I can't make out the French in those words, but the third one along in English is Window (Fenêtre??), Click on that and in the drop down menu click on Switch to Advanced GUI or whatever it is in French. I am only suggesting this because I wondered whether for some reason the first screen was sticking.
