Straight Capture to Disc question

Hello!
I need to record some 8mm Tapes to DVD.
Some Tapes have 120 - 180 minutes.

I want burn it directly to Disc. But i can select only two DVD Formats (4:3 PAL high quality and 4:3 PAL good quality) With this options can i only record about 90 minutes.

How can i set the formats to "Standard Quality"

Every stand-alone DVD recorder have a "LP" option, to record about 4 hours on a disk. This function did i need.


Can somebody help me, whitch software i must use

Hi

The data rate used to create the video file affects the file size and therefor the amount in minutes we can apply to disc, it also affects the quality, low data rate lower quality.

As a guide:-

8000kbps will allow for 60 minutes per disc. Full quality
6000kbps ----90 minutes. Good quality
4000kbps ----120 minutes. VHS quality

For 180 minutes you would need to use approx. 3000kbps.

I don’t have DVD Movie Factory but assume there is a way to create your own template.
Otherwise is there a fit to disc option?

I copy about 100pcs Cassettes per month. I need a fast solution to copy the cassettes to DVD. Corel DVD Moviefactory is the only one program to transfer DV to DVD without rendering after capturing.

But i can live with the two quality modes. It´s better than nothing!

What capture device are you using? To what format are you capturing? mpg or avi?

Hello! I use different devices. For MINI-DV i use a SONY HDR-HC3e, for HI8 and Digital8 i use a TRV-238E.
I will the cassettes directly burn to DVD. So fast as possible

Now i have found a solution, to change the Bitrate in the Straight to disc module! You can edit the file "CapMPTyp.ini"
In the textfile you can entry the bitrates that you want!

But now i have a new problem: I can capture Digital8 cassettes, but NOT Hi8 cassettes. I use the same camcorder over Firewire. Can anyone help me about this problem? I read something about IVI and Directshow...

For Hi8 Cassettes you mean the 120 min version ones correct?

Update: Now i use Moviefactory 4.
The old Version use DirectShow as Capture-Engine. MF6 + MF7 use a other engine and make problems with analog Tapes (Hi8, VCR,...)
