Good morning Folks,
It has been a while since I have been here so I am trying to find my way around. First, Let me give a huge Thank You to Ken Berry for helping me with a login problem. You are great & I sincerely appreciate it. I usually use PSP v9 because I can't get used to PSP X4 & really hate the text tool on it & it is so slow. I am looking for someone who has or had PSP v9 or can point me in the right direction for help. For a while now I have been having non-responding issues with it when opening the program & when saving or renaming files. I use Large Address Aware to allocate more memory to it but it doesn't help. I'm at a loss for what to do.
Many Thanks,
MamaWolf

Re: Problem with old version
I use Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I've been using it for years with no problems.

Re: Problem with old version
It sounds like it might be a corruption problem. Have you tried resetting the program to defaults?
According to Brothersoft.com the following to do it with PSP v9:
The article also mentions later versions' shift-click start to reset, so this tip might work for 9.
NataliaPeterson
Reset Paintshop Pro Versions 9 and X (10)
Open the Paintshop Pro software from Corel and click on "File."
Select "Preferences" to open the "Preferences" menu.
Click on "Reset Preferences" and put a check mark beside all the options and click "OK." The Corel preferences will now be restored to their default settings.
You may need to restart PSP.
Another thing that I have never tried is compatibility mode when starting PSP. If you right click the shortcut you use to start PSP chose properties in the context menu, then Compatibility tab.
On my Win 10 computer (Home) I can choose Windows versions way back to Win 95 (3.11 would be fun but hey, 95 is a sentimental journey too). I don't know if it would help, maybe worth a try to go a version back, as Win 10 keeps changing.
Running as administrator might also be an option for you.
I don't have any experience with Large Address Aware or other memory allocation programs, but maybe try disabling it to start the sleuthing with?
Good luck.

Re: Problem with old version
I have already tried all of that. I am beginning to think it isn't a PSP problem. It is now happening with other programs & even my file explorer. Now I am off to visit the Bleeping Computer forum. Aren't computers wonderful?

If it is a computer problem, have a peek at the Virtual Dr forum:

They can often help with those.
