How to add a spotlight
Hi All, I have been shooting in my studio but find that for my final images I wish to change my backdrop. The one chosen is a little dark and I would like to add a spotlight behind the person being pasted in front of the backdrop to "separate them from the background" ... If I were using the backdrop from the studio I would add a light behind them but I have chosen a different backdrop and it has not such lighting on it... so I would like to add it in ... feathered out of course so its not a hard light but just enough to separate out the person from the backdrop ...does anyone have a technique for adding a spotlight to an image?

I'm no expert, but have you tried menu Effects/Illumination Effects/Lights... or Sunburst...?
I could imagine it working with a duplicate layer, some masking, etc.

You could try Effects -> Illumination Effects -> Lights.

Re: How to add a spotlight
bz6djs You might want to experiment with <Effects> <Photo Effects> <Vignette>. Play with the 4 sliders 'till you get the look you want. You can also adjust the size of the spot as well as it's position. Having said that, I assume you will be working on a separate background layer.

Re: How to add a spotlight
You need to "extract" (selection or dedicated tool in X9) the subject from the background, place it on a transparent layer, and add the light on the background.bz6djs wrote:Hi All, I have been shooting in my studio but find that for my final images I wish to change my backdrop.
