Any basic brushes for Paint Shop Pro X8?

I installed PSP X8 on my desktop PC, running Win 7 Pro. I also installed the identical program on my laptop, running the same OS. The installation on the desktop gives me a good selection of brushes, but the one on the laptop excludes many brushes, including the horizontal and vertical line brushes (sigh!). Can these basic brushes be downloaded from somewhere...maybe copied from my desktop to laptop?

Sorry, but I did not find that page helpful in gettind all the standard brushes.

I'm still puzzled why my copy of PSP X8 Ultimate that came with two other nice photo editing apps has fewer brushes than JASC PSP v9 that I used many years ago, and why installation of X8 Ultimate on a desktop PC installs more brushes than it does on a powerful laptop.

Am I not allowed to install X8 on two PCs?

When you install PSP X8 standard (PSP X8 is the same version just has extra brushes) the table shows for example that you get 10 brushes.

When you register your version of PSP at the Corel website you then get the download of the Creative Content which takes your brushes up to 65 brushes in 3 sub folders. You need to download the Creative content and run the installation package.

If you have purchased the Ultimate version then you should have received an email with links to download PSP X8 and also the extras which include Creative Collection. You need to install that as well and that will take your total brushes up to 179 in 4 sub folders. The rest of the table shows the other bits and pieces you receive.

Ah, now I understand. On my desktop PC I have 99 brushes available, not 179. Are the others only available through scripting?

Sorry correction there. The full amount of brushes is 99.

Each brush may consist of two files a .PspScript and a .PspBrush some consist of only a .PspScript

Rather than go through each folder and check off matching brush / script files I just compared the number of files by using control A to select all the folders and outside filea and then Right click Properties to get the sum of Folders and Files.
So you do have the complete set of brushes that comes with X8 Ultimate. But then you can do searches for other PSP brushes and even PS brushes and then import them to finish with many more brushes.

Having registered and download the Creative Packs when I installed X8 on my Desktop PC, I did not think to register the product again to get the extras after installing a copy on my laptop. So I must register X8 again on my laptop.

Actually you can if you wish copy the download package across to the other computer and install it from there. Some people wish to keep a computer internet free and this would provide a way for them to get the same setup on their offline computer as they have on their online computer.

Do I understand correctly that I can copy the downloaded Creative to another PC and install the content there? If so, where is the Creative Pack download hidden? Corel does not follow the convention of using Windows' Download folder. Do you know the path?

In the meantime I will try copying the contents of the following from my DEscktop to laptop...

C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X8\Corel_01 etc.

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X8\Languages\EN\Scripts-Restricted

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop X8\Languages\EN\Scripts-Restricted

I think Corel makes great a product, but the company's unconventional methods of downloading extras leaves a lot to be desired.

Go to File > Preferences > File Locations and you can locate where your brushes etc are located.

Oops! Those steps failed. I could not select any brushes that I copied into the identical locations on my laptop, running the same OS.

I chatted with a tech support rep at Corel,who confirmed that I am permitted to install Corel PSP X8 on to "two or more" computers, but she did not know how to get PSP to recognize them. She issued a ticket and said a techie will email me.

It seems the only way to install the Creative Pack with a decent set of brushes is to register PSP, which can only be done once. So even though installation of the program is permitted on more than one computer, the latter is actually not possible by design of Corel's system. Why Corel cannot simply offer licensed users a download of the Creative Pack is beyond me. What should be a simple task has turned out to be a major project. I hope the management can find someone in the organization who knows how to treats its customers with a little more respect.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the technician that is supposed to help me by e-mail is more knowledgeable than the one with whom I chatted.
