X9.5 added a clip and chapter, but menu won't add the title

Post by clif9710 »

I'm using Videostudio X9.5 and am exploring the menu creation process. I started with a project containing three clips and created chapters, one for each clip. All was fine and I saved the project.

Later, I decided to add another clip to the project and went through the menu chapter creation process again starting from scratch marking each chapter. When I get to the point where I want to title the chapters, I see the original three chapter text placeholders - "chapter 1", "chapter 2", "chapter 3". There is no "chapter four". The program should create a placeholder title for each chapter that I create - so why is it refusing to show the fourth?

Also, I note that I can hide elements of a menu, but I see no way to restore them once I have hidden them. What's the trick to bringing back things that have been hidden?

I am not sure that you understand the difference between adding a clip which creates a title - or adding a chapter which you can do to a title

a title is what you get when you add a video clip to the timeline in the create menu / DVD burning module - this may be divided - by you into chapters which will appear on a separate menu page - - chapters are created by you and apply to individual video clips and basically split the clip

if you are just adding a clip to the menu (by importing the clip direct in the create menu module) then you do not need to also add a chapter for it to show on the menu

having said that - did the menu you chose to customise only start with 3 placeholders - if yes then VideoStudio would create a page 2 in the menu to hold the fourth one - check the little drop down immediately under the preview screen - is it 'live' and showing options to view another page

have a look at this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmvWu0lw6G4 - I made it in X5 so the start is slightly different but once the 'Create menu/burn Disc' window opens then it is the same as current versions

if you have hidden an object then hover over the location where it was - the yellow boxes should still appear so that you can right click and unhide the object

Brian - you've answered not only the questions I had, but provided context that answered others I've had as well.

Thanks very much!
