Help with NewBlue Essentials III Spotlight Effect

Hi. Does anyone have experience using this plugin? I would like to highlight my son playing soccer, but I'm having two problems: First, I'd like the spotlight to appear at a certain part of a clip and disappear after 2-3 seconds. I assume I'd using key framing to do this, but I can't figure out how to set key frames with the Spotlight controls. Second, I can't get the Spotlight to maintain its shape. I have another question about how to get the Spotlight to track my son's motion. Do I use track motion and then link it to the Spotlight? Unfortunately, I've found only one instructional video on how to use Spotlight and it didn't answer any of my questions.
