I don't see the problem. Both the time and date are shown immediately you point at a clip in the library. Getting the clips in date order is a function of good housekeeping and the Capture option which should be done before editing.
Editing is a process of putting the clips in an order which makes a good final video. This does not always mean string the clips by time and date but by selecting the appropriate clip for that moment in the video. For example a clip from another shooting session could be used as a cut away or filler. Example: you cannot show your flight taking off from your airport if you are sitting in the aeroplane, so you would use a previous or later shoot to supply that clip.

Two further examples:
I recorded a trip we took on the Welsh Highland Railway. The first day was all in the train, hanging out of windows and station shots in the journey. A second day was taken chasing the train up the track (by road) taking passing shots and scenery.
Recorded my Grandchildren Go-Karting at a local track, they liked it so much we returned for a second go. Clothing and weather (standard Welsh cloudy) the same so it was impossible to tell between the first and second outing in the final video.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi

Adjacent to A/Z sort is the option to view library in “list view” that shows the shooting date.

Yes indeed, the date is there in list mode. What I requested was that the time (hrs and minutes) were added to the date in that list.

Allow the user to change/modify the text color/contrast in the UI.

For example the Share>"Same as first clip" or "Same as Project Settings" and the Check Box associated with it look as if they are grayed out and not an option on my screen. When the Check Box is ticked it perks up a little, if you look really carefully.

BrianC has referred to this previously too.

Hi

Sorry for the confusion, I do not see why they cannot implement that.
Back in Thumbnail view, when we float the mouse a tool tip shows the entire shooting date including the time, so no real reason why it cannot show in List view?

I'm new to VideoStudio Ultiamate X10. This weekend I used Batch Convert and ran into a few things that either I'm too new to know how to do, or need to be on the wish list. I needed to convert 41 mixed videos with all types of resolutions (i.e. 640x360, 544x284 etc). These happed to be .avi with h.264 encoding. I was converting to mpeg1/2 .mpg for a portable player.

1) Default Resolution: In the options for .mpg output I only found only fix resolutions. There is no 'default' or 'use source' for leaving a resolution the same as the source. This caused files to get expanded which wasn’t good from file size or picture quality. Some Free Convertors offer the default option to handle this, would be nice to see that added.

2) File names with Periods: The ability to to handle file names with periods in them really needs to be fixed. Especially considering this is a batch process the user typically walks away from and lets run. File names like “1. The Reason Behind the Move.mp4” get rewritten as “1.mpg”. Since the very operating system that VS runs on handles it, the application should as well. From a programmers perspective it’s a very simple reverse parse to find the existence of an extension and parse out the full file name periods and all.

3) Batch Mode Abort All: Found I couldn’t abort the Batch File Convert without using ESC on every single file then hitting ok. It would create a new file for the next convert (I could see it pop up in the other window) then delete it then abort. ‘Abort All’ sure would be nice.

4) File name On Screen: When you are doing the conversions, having the file name on the screen sure would be nice. I realize an open window into the destination directory could indicate what one it is working on but on screen is better.

These items above resulted in a fairly nasty experience trying to do an extremely simple job. All four items above were handled by a Free Converter which I had to resort to for my conversions. I would love to see these items get into VS.

One other observation was the bitrate vs filesize results. Dropping the bitrate down from 8k to 6k and then even 4 (where I lost too much quality) didn’t seem to help my filesize much. I'll keep playing with that one.

Not related to batch mode

5) Locked Window: Not sure why it is necessary to lock the VS Application screen so it can’t be moved in the hallmark Windows fashion during conversion.

6) Snapshots: When taking snapshots from a video, the snapshot is loaded to the preview window. This jumps you from project mode to clip mode. So after each clip you take, you need to click on project again, to get back to were you were in the video time code and the video. Would be nice if that can be shut off. If it can I apologize and haven’t found it yet. Having the snapshot show up in the library pane is enough to know you got it. Would be nice to keep rolling along the video taking the snapshots out you need without having to keep switching back to project mode and the video.

I have short answer Dan, why to use VS for that?
there are gazillion programs out there.
I use XMediaRecode portable for conversions.

Regarding #6, I back you on this, I asked for a shortcut for snapshot but members here don't believe in shortcuts.

For me the most important would be to Abort All in Bulk. It's caused many frustrations:/

I am a new user of Video Studio 9 Ultimate and use the program exclusively to create travel videos which I burn either to standard DVD's or Blu-Ray Disks. While the features of this program are awesome, the DVD burning module is klunky, unintuitive, and not user friendly. Frequently when I am in the burn module and have everything playing just the way I want it to in the Preview mode, when I click the "Burn" button, I frequently get, what I think is the only error message in the whole program. "Convert Step Got Some Problems." Great, what are the problems? This message tells me nothing. I wish in Version 11 that when an error message is displayed, it will more specifically state what the problem is so I know where to look to fix it.

You only need "Lorem Ipsum" for animated titles. For non animated click T and type.

Hi Terfyn

X10 seems to retain the properties of the last used Title - hence Ken's wish. Or, am I missing something?

Do not know about any one else, but after I use Lorum Ipsum in VSX9, clicking on T does not get me back to being able to use non animated titles.

Generally I find VS10 able to meet my needs with one simple exception:
The audio track editor is too finicky when one comes to moving those nice little markers up and down (or are my eyes just stuffed?)
Try as I might sometimes, I find it almost impossible to match sound endpoints across a clip line, yet not to do so can leave an audible "click" or "fuzz" in the soundtrack
And using a transition is seldom practical or even desirable from a viewing standpoint, and should be used sparingly
This particular irritation has been in the program for as long as I have used it, dating back many versions
So - Corel - go ahead and make my day!

That is only one of a myriad of reasons to demux the AV and use a DAW, like Audacity. Unless using a studio, no camera will ever offer a quality audio stream.
