If I may add my biggest Wishes:
-
Dynamic Ram Preview ("borrowed" concept from other video editing product lines (two others that I use have this)) where you can tell VSP to 'build' a preview of the selected portion (Range) directly (and only into) RAM, which would then be viewable in 'full speed' as a temporary "Live" project playback preview of all effects/filters/etc being applied to that selected Range (for proofing/roughcut reviewing)
-
Preview monitoring without Scaling (option/toggle to view the Project Preview in '100% size' for precise proofing)
-
'Zooming in' capability of the Preview Area/Window ('past 100%', for more exact positioning, etc)
-
More freedom in the Cropping (whether it is in the FX/Filter or including Cropping into the Advanced Motion Clip Options, Cropping in VSP is somewhat clunky and heavy-handed compared to other Video Editors)
-
Save Effect Filter Presets (eg. setting Lens Flare FX to specific brightness/position, able to Choose that Preset when using the Lens Flare FX later in another Project)....
Edit: I see that this occurs with "Add Current Effect To My Favourites", great!
-
Estimated Time To Render (completion time ETA - I think this is the only video editing application at this price range that does not have this?)
-
More options, Less restrictions for Rendering Locally (eg. the bitrate is very limited currently, based on 'what is assumed to probably be used at this resolution/etc' - allow the user to set the bitrate(s)! (perhaps just put a 'suggested bitrate' info box next to the bitrate entry area)). There are many formats available, which is nice to see
-
More options, Less restrictions for Rendering To Web (eg. the framerate is LOCKED to 30fps, which was disappointing to see and the bitrate is limited, based on 'what is assumed to probably be used at this resolution/etc' - allow the user to set the bitrate(s)! (perhaps just put a 'suggested bitrate' info box next to the bitrate entry area))
-
REPAIR capability (I recently ran into an issue where VSx10 would 'get stuck' on the initial splash/logo on startup (it would not start fully) and then that screen would go away... nothing else. It was solved by Uninstalling, Clearing Temp Files in Windows, Rebooting, Reinstalling VSx10 - but to be able to Repair (many applications have this option in the Uninstall area of the Programs section of the Control Panel) versus Uninstalling/Reinstalling as part of troubleshooting an issue, would be an asset)
-
GIF format output (for fully creating animations, instead of users going to other 3rd party applications, which is still required, as VS seems to only output separate images or UIS files (is Ulead GIF Animator still available?))
-
FX ability to apply to Overlay ONLY (for example, if using a video of a Lower Thirds, being able to apply an FX that does not affect all Project layers and affect the entire screen, so that it is constrained to the confines/shape of the Lower Third Overlay layer/Track after applying a Chroma Key, etc)
-
'Record at Resolution' for Live Screen Capture (to watch a source/play a game/create tutorial at full screen size, but record/save it as a lower resolution to save space/for archiving)
-
Framerate and Bitrate choices for Live Screen Capture (to record in smaller sizes or at higher framerates (Eg.60fps))
-
Screenshots button/key for Live Screen Capture (to quickly capture screenshots into a file, versus manually opening PSPro and going through steps from there to save screenshots, or using PrntScrn/Paste, or using third-party applications)
-
Record Audio Only for Live Screen Capture (for commentaries, similar projects or archiving other audio)
-
Audio ('Music Track') Envelopes for Panning (To be able to adjust panning over time, with nodes over the course of the waveform/clip)
-
Resizing of Tracks (to make them larger for easier viewing/organization and to see the waveforms for audio in more detail)
-
Import Multichannel Audio as separate Tracks (for 5.1 (6-channel) and 7.1 (8-channel) audio recordings/clip, the ability to import the audio tracks to separate 'Music Tracks', for more specific editing/mixing/etc - other video editing programs in this price range do this with multichannel audio within a single video file)... which leads into
-
More Tracks, at the least, for Ultimate! (VideoStudio continues to be quite restrictive in the number of Tracks available, especially for an "Ultimate version", and this is invariably mentioned in Reviews online about VS...
It should be noted that another video editing product I use, from a not-named-here company, in this price range, has had 100 Tracks for some time, and another not-named-here company that bought out the Vegas product line from a third not-named-here company, recently increased their 'Pro-sumer' (same price range) video editing product line 'Tracks amount', after the acquisition, up to 200 Tracks...)
Editing off-and-on to add some thought-of-later items to this...
Enjoying VSx10 so far though

it seems to consistently improve with every version! Keep up the great work, Corel!
