Hi

As far as I know the Welcome page links to the Corel Server, if internet is slow then loading that will suffer..........

Look at Startup tab in msconfig.exe to see what is loading unnecessarily. Under the General tab, you can set msconfig to a diagnostic bootup. If your system boots up fast and runs more efficiently after selecting Diagnostic startup, you can then find the culprit by the process of elimination.

Another option is to use Services.msc, where you can set known apps to "manual"; so that they run only when you want them to run. Many sofware engineers design their programs to run in the background and drain resources that impedes computer performance. Task manager has a Performance tab. CPU usage at idle should be below 1%.

Hope this helps.

I would like to recommend adding webm as a supported video format. It's a hassle to convert file formats before editing. Actually a video format converter built into VS11 would be outstanding. I
The free version of Any-video-converter does not support webm. Much of the time I just want to convert file format to something that will run on my game consoles with some minor edits. I find myself converting flv and webm to mp4 just so I can edit in VS.

PS I also needed to get a post on this forum to keep my account active or so I was told so I hope this counts.

Video Studio has supported webm for several versions now. When you select Insert Video, the dialogue box which appears has "All Formats" by default, but if you click on the downward-pointing arrow beside it, you will see WebM as one of the accepted formats you can insert in the timeline. And when you get to the Share stage, if you select Custom as the output format, again on pressing the downward-pointing arrow beside the Format window, you will see WebM as one of the acceptable output formats.

Odd I have never been able to get that to work. I normally just drag and drop the file onto the timeline and that does not work. I just attempted it using the method you described (inserting it into the timeline AND selecting webm for the format and unfortunatly it still does not work for me. I get the following error Image This is on VS9 19.6.0.1 64bit pro win8 64, everything is up to date.

If I may add my biggest Wishes:

- Dynamic Ram Preview ("borrowed" concept from other video editing product lines (two others that I use have this)) where you can tell VSP to 'build' a preview of the selected portion (Range) directly (and only into) RAM, which would then be viewable in 'full speed' as a temporary "Live" project playback preview of all effects/filters/etc being applied to that selected Range (for proofing/roughcut reviewing)

- Preview monitoring without Scaling (option/toggle to view the Project Preview in '100% size' for precise proofing)

- 'Zooming in' capability of the Preview Area/Window ('past 100%', for more exact positioning, etc)

- More freedom in the Cropping (whether it is in the FX/Filter or including Cropping into the Advanced Motion Clip Options, Cropping in VSP is somewhat clunky and heavy-handed compared to other Video Editors)

- Save Effect Filter Presets (eg. setting Lens Flare FX to specific brightness/position, able to Choose that Preset when using the Lens Flare FX later in another Project).... Edit: I see that this occurs with "Add Current Effect To My Favourites", great!

- Estimated Time To Render (completion time ETA - I think this is the only video editing application at this price range that does not have this?)

- More options, Less restrictions for Rendering Locally (eg. the bitrate is very limited currently, based on 'what is assumed to probably be used at this resolution/etc' - allow the user to set the bitrate(s)! (perhaps just put a 'suggested bitrate' info box next to the bitrate entry area)). There are many formats available, which is nice to see

- More options, Less restrictions for Rendering To Web (eg. the framerate is LOCKED to 30fps, which was disappointing to see and the bitrate is limited, based on 'what is assumed to probably be used at this resolution/etc' - allow the user to set the bitrate(s)! (perhaps just put a 'suggested bitrate' info box next to the bitrate entry area))

- REPAIR capability (I recently ran into an issue where VSx10 would 'get stuck' on the initial splash/logo on startup (it would not start fully) and then that screen would go away... nothing else. It was solved by Uninstalling, Clearing Temp Files in Windows, Rebooting, Reinstalling VSx10 - but to be able to Repair (many applications have this option in the Uninstall area of the Programs section of the Control Panel) versus Uninstalling/Reinstalling as part of troubleshooting an issue, would be an asset)

- GIF format output (for fully creating animations, instead of users going to other 3rd party applications, which is still required, as VS seems to only output separate images or UIS files (is Ulead GIF Animator still available?))

- FX ability to apply to Overlay ONLY (for example, if using a video of a Lower Thirds, being able to apply an FX that does not affect all Project layers and affect the entire screen, so that it is constrained to the confines/shape of the Lower Third Overlay layer/Track after applying a Chroma Key, etc)

- 'Record at Resolution' for Live Screen Capture (to watch a source/play a game/create tutorial at full screen size, but record/save it as a lower resolution to save space/for archiving)

- Framerate and Bitrate choices for Live Screen Capture (to record in smaller sizes or at higher framerates (Eg.60fps))

- Screenshots button/key for Live Screen Capture (to quickly capture screenshots into a file, versus manually opening PSPro and going through steps from there to save screenshots, or using PrntScrn/Paste, or using third-party applications)

- Record Audio Only for Live Screen Capture (for commentaries, similar projects or archiving other audio)

- Audio ('Music Track') Envelopes for Panning (To be able to adjust panning over time, with nodes over the course of the waveform/clip)

- Resizing of Tracks (to make them larger for easier viewing/organization and to see the waveforms for audio in more detail)

- Import Multichannel Audio as separate Tracks (for 5.1 (6-channel) and 7.1 (8-channel) audio recordings/clip, the ability to import the audio tracks to separate 'Music Tracks', for more specific editing/mixing/etc - other video editing programs in this price range do this with multichannel audio within a single video file)... which leads into

- More Tracks, at the least, for Ultimate! (VideoStudio continues to be quite restrictive in the number of Tracks available, especially for an "Ultimate version", and this is invariably mentioned in Reviews online about VS... It should be noted that another video editing product I use, from a not-named-here company, in this price range, has had 100 Tracks for some time, and another not-named-here company that bought out the Vegas product line from a third not-named-here company, recently increased their 'Pro-sumer' (same price range) video editing product line 'Tracks amount', after the acquisition, up to 200 Tracks...)

Editing off-and-on to add some thought-of-later items to this...

Enjoying VSx10 so far though  it seems to consistently improve with every version! Keep up the great work, Corel!

Could you please upload a small webm file to a site like Dropbox or OneDrive so that we can download it and see what happens on our setup?

-Moving items on the time line using cursor keys.
-Support luts and more plug-ins.

The plug-in/lut situation NEARLY makes me want to change to Resolve, or something else, as if feels like we're not even close to owning a 'pro' package. Heck release a third version, 'PRO-MEGA-ULTIMATE-NINJA' version that supports this stuff.

I wish I could change the volume level in the Sound Mixer mode not only with the mouse. In many cases it is required to enter the exact volume level e.g. with the keyboard.

I'd really like to see sound syncing available on the timeline, without having to go to multicam. I'd also like it to work better!

I wish I could hear the audio of the other tracks while recording a voice-over and while using headphones. If no headphones are used all other tracks or just some of them can be put on silent.

I would love to see the colors of the interface changed. I am new to Video Studio and loved all the features but the dull white lettering against a charcoal gray background make things difficult to see. When I went to create a menu page on the burn module, the "edit" tab blended so far into the gray background color, it was invisible. A previous
video editing program I used had a light beige background. The various control buttons and icons were silver, and all the lettering was bold black which made everything real easy to see.

For those of us who burn videos to DVD, I would love to see chapter in and chapter out points. Again on a previous video editor had this so that if someone who was viewing your video on disk wanted to watch chapter 3, they could click that button on the menu screen and at the end of chapter 3, the video would cycle back to the menu screen so another chapter selection could be made. In Video Studio, if you select chapter 3, the video will start there and just play through to the end of the video unless you stop it. Being able to set chapter out points would tell the program when to cycle back to the menu screen at the end of playing a chapter.

I agree. Lack of contrast between lettering and the background seems to cater to juveniles that find it cool to hide text. Corel will do well to market its product to the adult mindset.

Hi Ken--It would be nice if X11 gave us "backends" to the prebuilt animated titles. I would love for the title to complete its animation, then hold center screen for a second or two so I can decide how to transition out of it (or even use freeze frame to extend it longer.) To accomplish this right now I'm having to move my curser to the end of the title, then use "convert this frame to PNG" to create a freeze frame. Thanks!
