2) The video clip in the timeline needs to show all the picture frames, not just the first. I understand you want to keep the GUI simple, but adding this feature will make the program so much better. Moreover, identifying the frames (I,B,P) in the timeline would be a plus.
1) The audio is digital therefore the pitch does not alter with change of speed. Try it out.
2)Single clip trim will give you every frame in a shot. Just double click on the thumbnail. Plus you can get at every frame in storyboard view.

It helps to become familiar with the program before commenting on features already there.

Hello,

I purchased X10 because "Mask Creator" was supposed to identify video motion.

It's terrible. The "End of Clip" function quickly loses the features it is intended to track. Nobody has time to paint a dynamic mask frame-by-frame.

I'd like to see the ability to identify the mask area(s) in several keyframes of a clip and have the program interpolate intermediate frames.

To do this, I believe the developer would have to perform a grid-vector conversion, do the interpolation, and then convert back to grid (to create the new dynamic mask). All the pieces are there to do this. My proposed approach would be far less technically challenging than the approach that developers hoped would work in X10 (i.e. "End of Clip" image analysis). My approach would exploit and replace the mask frames found in C:\Users\nnnnn\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\X10.0

If someone knows that this capability is extant, please educate me.

This is my second post and the reason I joined the forum. Thanks for your time.

Kinsman, as you propebly see, many things in X10 did not improved since your ulead...
for better mask creation you better shoot correctly for that task.

WISHLIST FOR VSP x 11

We need VSP x11 to accept 4:2:2 10 BIT 4K MP4 files. Panasonic has set the ball rolling with it's new GH5 Lumix camera this year and these video files will become more common as the popularity grows within this brand and I'm sure other brands will follow.

Here's a question I put to Corel themselves (March 2017)

"Hi, since receiving my new Panasonic GH5 DSLR camera last week, I note some difficulties with the 4K video clips. The camera produces AVCHD files and 4K files with MP4 and MOV.
My VSPx9 Ultimate will not take the 4:2:2 10 bit MP4 file to the timeline with the message "File format mismatch" however it will take the equivalent MOV file (though I prefer to work with MP4)
After chatting on the forum (http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61515), they suggested checking with you if VSPx10 would support these files. So my questions are:
Does VSPx10 support these files?
Can VSPx10 colour grade these files?
Does VSPx10 output these files?
If not, what will you do with future VSP's with regards to about incoming 4K changes to prosumer cameras?
How stable is VSPx10 for 4K?

Here's their reply

" I understand that you are having problems with our program. And I'm very sorry for the issue you are encountering right now. But with regards to your issue, the only way to import it is to convert your videos to other format like .MP4. I am sorry to say that the video codecs of your file is not supported on our software.

I did indeed try speeding up and slowing down video in a dozen or so video clips. If video is sped up, so too is the audio pitch. If slowed down, the pitch of the audio is lowered. If the speed of only a section of a video is sped up or slowed down, audio playback fails, even if the audio is demuxed and remuxed.

I have read everything I could find about video speed, and frame rate in Corel's Help Topics and also the manual, but found nothing to help me with my project. I also spent hours searching the Internet and watching YouTube tutorials on VS. If you are able to modify video speed without altering the pitch of the audio track, please share; for evidently you are the only person that is able to perform the task. I eagerly look forward to learning from you.

Regarding the changes in music speed.
Try this experiment. Select a piece of music, drag the same piece to TWO of the music tracks (i.e. same in both tracks)
Now using the Shift key, click on the end of ONE of the tracks and shorten by 20 seconds. Now play both tracks and listen for any change in pitch. The music will eventually garble as the shorter track gets ahead of the original track.
The pitch will change if you drastically alter the speed but for small changes, for example to fit the music to a piece of video, there will be no discernable change in pitch.

I always edit the video first before adding the audio track. Then I look for a suitable piece of music of roughly the same length as the video. I then match the audio to the video.
If you are recording a live band, a change in audio speed to the video track will ruin the sync between the players actions and the sound heard.

If you cannot get the effect you want inside VideoStudio split the audio and, using Share, record the audio to a file. modify the file in Audacity and make the track length the same as the video in VS, save the file and then re-introduce into VS, drag audio to a music track, align the audio with the video and then render.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Back to my original wish.

I would love VS to include a feature like the "Sliding Time Scale" tool in Audacity, so that the frame rate of video clips could be modified without the audio pitch being raised or lowered. Among the myriad of uses would be for musicians to learn riffs from music videos, slowing them down but maintaining concert pitch, same for dancing and foreign language lessons. No complex editing of the clip would be required....just stretch or contract the clip in the timeline. Voila!

As far as I know, no video editor offers a sliding time scale; it's just a matter of time when some publisher adds this feature. Hopefully VS will be the first.

I have Sony Movie Studio 13 Platinum, part of which is ACID Music Studio 10.0, Pitch and Time Shift is an available FX plugin, which when selected opens Sony ExpressFX Time Stretch

G'day mate. Mornington? Crickey! I used ta go fishin' there...lost of sharks.

So you have a video editor with a built in DAW that can do what I am wishing for. No worries. I'll find a workaround.

No -- I think Robert was saying that Vegas Movie Studio comes with a separate Audio editing program which has the Pitch and Time shift plug-ins. ACID Music Studio is a program which used to come with the main Sony Vegas video editing package, and when Movie Studio emerged as a junior sibling of Vegas, they included and older version of ACID...

That was up to Movie Studio 13. Then Sony sold Vegas and Movie Studio to Magix who have only recently produced Movie Studio 14, and they did not include ACID. However, if you happen to have an earlier version of Movie Studio you can still use the ACID which came with that to edit audio for Movie Studio 14.

You are correct Ken that ACID is a separate program included with Movie Studio 13 Platinum, however the Sony ExpressFX Time Stretch filter can be accessed from within Movie Studio, whether or not this filter will achieve what Djard007 is looking for, is however, another matter

How about an installer that is not just installing the entire software onto my c:\ drive, frigging hate that.
My c:\ drive is 240 gig and even when i try to avoid installing stuff to it i am down to 80 gig free, meanwhile my software drive is 4TB in size.
