A little late to the party. As others posted, only audio in VSX10. Plays back fine in Pinnacle Studio 21 Ultimate.
What does happen when playing back in Pinnacle is that only UHD resolution is displayed. So, have the black bars at top and bottom. Pinnacle can not display full Cinema 4K.
Upon export and choosing Custom, I can export to 4096x2160, but have not way to display it properly at that aspect ratio. I still have black bars top and bottom. So I don't know if that's because of my monitor aspect ratio, or it's imbedded into the video because timeline settings do not support Cinema 4K

What I did try was converting the file with HANDBRAKE. It played back fine in X10 without black bars being displayed. Below is MediaInfo after the converting with Handbrake.
Creating a custom profile for the file in Share, it exported and played back fine in VLC.

I wish for a program that does what it says it does, reliably and smoothly, without crashing. Oh and as others have previously stated - a manual that actually explains things and what to do.

I think the day of "detailed how to do this" manuals are a thing of the past. With the proliferation of Youtube instructional tutorials, at least for me, help far more than reading text and trying to emulate what is written.
With X10, and guessing for the future, you are given 21 days full access to StudioBacklot.tv which has tutorials to get you up and running. Then there is the user forum, and of course, you experimenting yourself. I can only imagine how huge a manual would be that detailed every single feature and way to implement it would be.
I personally do not think that Corel will hire a staff to write this type of manual.... with emphasis on the word "hire"....

I love VS and have been using it for a few years now. Gradually my knowledge and what I wish to do with it has increased and slowly my ability to get VS to do what I’d like is improving too. I do have a few issues though:

1. Improve the colour correction process. Currently this often results in the final result having banding or large steps in the output video
2. Add an ability to use log files for colour correction. I’m thinking specifically about full support for cameras such as the Panasonic GH5. I note that there are other suggestions regarding Olympus cameras, for example, where support hasn’t been available. Perhaps a small update module could be released more frequently for new cameras?
3. The ability to print off your timeline at various resolutions, so that you can look at your editing on paper.
4. Capture crash-logs for submission to the Corel developers. I’ve had a number of instances when VS has crashed and all I get, sometimes, is a prompt to say it’s stopped working. Other times it’s just bombed out. VS in most instances I can recover the last project I was editing, but the latest changes aren’t always there.
5. Correction for when you uninstall the software. I needed to perform a complete reinstallation after a recent update from M$ which moved my user folder from “c:\users\name” to “c:\users\name.computername”. In order to resolve this I renamed the folders and managed to get most of my software working once more. However I discovered that VS X10 (and PSP 2018) didn’t like it. The VS templates had already been downloaded and installed in the previous user documents folder and I couldn’t re-download them, even though I‘d completely uninstalled and reinstalled VS 10.5 several times.
6. Improve the audio editing to include and improve the ability to do some of the following:
a. Change audio from one channel to both or the other
b. Improve the ability to manage surround-sound audio
7. Add the ability to use a ‘colour card’ to automatically correct the colour, contrast and white balance levels
8. Improve the performance of the Newblue FX & Boris add-ons. The Newblue Titler Pro, for example, crashes on me at times, making it unreliable.
9. I’ve been using the Star Wars Crawl template with Boris Graffiti and it takes a few hours to render the video file that is just under 2 minutes. I’m using a laptop with an i7 processor and 16GB of RAM.
10. Add the ability to ‘swap’ tracks up & down
11. Fix the issues with Microsoft Visual C++. I’ve has endless issues with the template ‘026_HD-Project’ crashing on me with a Visual C++ error. The suggested fixes (i.e. fix or reinstall Microsoft Visual C++) haven’t worked.
12. Increase the number of custom folders in the library from 33.
13. Add the ability to add keywords to content in the library & also add the ability to search via the keywords
14. Improve the library sort process & options. Recently I tried to sort the order by date & time of the recording. There were multiple cameras which were set correctly, yet the tabs weren’t in the correct order. Also allow some additional information to be show in the library, such as the time & date and length of recording
15. When you right-click an item in your timeline, you can select ‘Replace Clip’. Rather than just go to the folders on your drive/s, it would be nice to pick a clip or image from the library
16. Improve ‘Painting Creator’ to use preset shapes (i.e. lasso, arrows, speech bubbles, circles, rectangles) rather than having to draw them
17. Interpolated slow-motion – Basically an add-on to fill-in the calculated steps between frames for slow motion clips. Sometimes it isn’t always possible to predict when you’ll want to record something in slow motion and it would be nice to smooth out the footage in such cases.
18. Increase the Speed/Time-lapse range and add fractions of a percentage from the present 10-1000% range. Before now I have wanted to condense some footage from more than this range would allow me. The only way around this for now is to process the raw footage prior to the main edit. Also if I record some video at 240fps, I would need to slow it down to 10.41% to play back at 25fps (UK standard). Footage recorded at 120fps would need to be slowed down to 20.83%. Neither option is possible as I can either choose 11%, 10%, 20% or 21% but not in between. For those in the USA or Japan who are working to 29.97fps or 23.976fps, things must be a little harder. I have found that it I calculate how many seconds a clip should take, that I can set the time to that specific value. This is Ok if the clip is exactly 10 or 20 seconds, but not so easy if it is 7.3 seconds, for example.
19. When swapping render options, it would be nice not to have to redo some of the FX options. Specifically I am thinking of the proDAD FX ‘Mercalli 2.0’. This has to be redone each time and the information can be lost at a later date, meaning that it has to be analysed again for each clip it was used in before it is rendered again.
20. I’ve asked before and I was given an answer that it’s due to a copyright issue over the source, but I’ll ask again: Can we please have transitions applied to just the item that they are being applied to? Current if I want to use a transition such as ‘Blowout, the whole frame is affected, not just a small clip that takes a small portion of the frame. Typically I have to use Crossfade, which is great for a professional feel in many instances, but not always what I’d like to use in others.
21. Improve the accuracy of the mask creator tool. Currently it can be very difficult to create an outline around an object and get it pixel perfect. Then when get it to automatically create a mask for the next frame, it nearly always doesn’t get a perfect match. This is true even for a static object. I would also love the ability to make the editor full-screen and to also zoom in/out of the frame. I have also found that the mask editor doesn’t go to the beginning of what you have selected, but the whole unedited clip. This is not very workable if you have cut the clip you wish to use for the edited video.
22. General ability to resize or maximise all the various editing windows such as mask creator tool, subtitle editor, time remapping, multi-trim video & split by scene
23. Ability to transfer video editing settings from version to version when you perform the updates and also should you have to reinstall VS following a system rebuild or when you’ve had to uninstall the product due to some other issue. Personally I don’t like to reduce the output quality and have increased the quality to 100% for the video I work on. I have had to redo this every time I have upgraded or reinstalled VS.
24. Allow the combination of more than one template in Fastclick. In one project earlier this year the template started repeating itself as I had more images than it had originally allowed for. As it wasn’t that many I was able to stick with the one template. In another project I wanted to use several templates and had to carefully note which images had been used and which had not. Considering some that I wanted some images together due to their subject matter, but were stored in different folders or when they were in the same folder, they weren’t sequentially next to each other, this proved to be a challenge
25. In Fastclick could someone please improve the delay cause by it updating the preview work whenever you swap images around? It has to render the movie/video each and every time that you change something. This can be a realy pain if you want to swap multiple images, tweak thing a little here or there and more.
26. Make it a little easier to introduce video clips into Fastclick. It might be that you don’t want to use the first 10 seconds of a video clip, but rather start a few minutes in. I do realise that I can export the finished Fastclick project into VS and resolve this issue there.
27. When viewing the properties of a clip, include date & time of recording

This one is aimed more at the people who maintain the forum, not the moderators who do a great job... Could you please look at updating the forum software please? The addition of buttons such as “Thank you” and “Like” can really be helpful to show positive feedback from other members who have found a response helpful. Another useful feature is a “Solution” button where either the OP or a moderator can mark a post as the solution to the question. That post can then be highlighted and promoted to show just after the original post in the thread.

I know a few people have asked for a manual to be written. This sounds a nice idea, but to be fair it’s a while since I’ve seen any manual for a software product. If such a manual were produced, I would prefer it to be automatically made available as a PDF file, but with an option for a paperback copy too.

Instead I have found the many tutorials, such as those by gripps2211 & Paul Holtz to be of great value.

For reference I have a copy of a Paintshop Pro X13 manual. I’ve rarely looked at it, favouring instead the various tutorials on-line and the help pages. I’m currently using PSP 2018 Ultimate.

VS is a great product. This list represents a desire to get more from it. I love the many filters and transitions that come with the product and the additional ones which come with the Ultimate edition or are available to purchase. Sure most of the time I stick rigidly to three transitions (Crossfade, Fade to black & cut) as these give a more professional feel, but occasionally I do use some of the others for effect.

Thank you TonyP. I knew there'd be something I'd forget though...

28. The ability to change the colours of the icons on the left for the different tracks. Sometimes I need to compose more than one version of the video for different audiences. A current example would be a video which will be shown to a private audience and later posted on YouTube. For the private audience I can legally use copyright music as we have a licence. However YouTube won't let me post that version, so instead I have the same video with a different backing track. I also need to include the appropriate credit corrections at the end of the video.

In developing the video I've also been working with one version having a voice over and another version not. This is the first time I've added a voice over, so I wanted to be able to keep my options open in case it didn't work.

Before I render the video I simple disable the tracks for the version I don't wish to render and enable the tracks for the version I do. Keeping track (sorry for that one ;) ) of which tracks are which could be helped by colour coding the buttons on the left.

Another use might be for when someone is using a variety of different people for the voice overs, perhaps different languages. You may even have titles in different languages at the same time.

That looks far easier than with VS, but it is already possible and unless Corel see a day when they will combine the two products, thus reducing development costs, I can't see them doing this soon.

There are various templates to help with creating a split screen effect. With the Black Friday deals which are on at the present time, take a look on the 'Welcome' page, click "Get more" and take a look at the templates available.

There are many other templates already available for free which you can down load which also allow you to do this. Many of the use the "Picture in Picture" under "NewBlue Video Essentials II" in the FX section in the editor section.

Templates are nice, but total customization is better and way faster. You get the look "you" want without having to search everywhere for it.
With a lot of the cross pollination going on between CVS and PS (audio ducking to PS, multicam to VS come to mind ,along with Time Remapping ), never say never....

It would be nice they mix the two programs together.

There is also a pluggin by newbluefx in overlay that is user friendly for Split Screen.

It is good to have many templates to be downloaded.

However, there are 100+ template. Can they be just pre-installed in VideoStudio 11? Then, we don't need to press download button 100+ times?

what about the guys that do not want those installing.
They could provide a zip file that would install all.

The problem I see is we do not have the opportunity to preview before installing, so I download, install then don't like the effect, delete.

There has to be a better way
